After retiring his 1000th batter the previous season, Boston Red Sox starter Nate Eovaldi pitched a complete game in a 5-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles, retiring six.
Saturday, a big rebounding game for the Boston Red Sox, who had just lost an 8-2 lead after the seventh inning Friday night, losing 12-8 to the Baltimore Orioles.
Baltimore didn’t make things any less difficult for the Red Sox on Saturday, but a stellar pitching feature through Boston starter Nate Eovaldi changed the course for the Red Sox.
Eovaldi pitched a complete game, allowed just two clean runs and retired six in receptions as the Red Sox beat the Orioles, 5-3 on Saturday.
Boston and Baltimore were tied 3-3 until the fifth inning after the Orioles tied the game early in the fifth.
Once the back of the sixth came, first baseman Bobby Dalbec put the Red Sox in position forever, connecting on a solo run as Boston led 4-3.
Opposing outfielder Dalbec notched the best streak of the season in his 42nd game. He struggled a lot for Boston, achieving Array162 before Saturday’s game with just 18 hits, an ARRAY488 OPS and a 41 OPS.
Boston’s offense clicked all cylinders recently, and I hope Dalbec can get back in shape after a rough start to the year.
In the ninth, Baltimore threatened a counterattack, a strikeout and the tie point for Rougned Odor, whose career-high 11-game streak threatened.
He’s been a great hitter for Baltimore in games, with two hits to his call last week. However, Eovaldi induced a double play on the court to end the game, ending his first full game of his MLB career.
Boston, now 22-24 of the year, will look to win the series on Sunday and win less than Array500.
