SHAVER LAKE, California (AP) – Army helicopter rescuers transported 207 other people to protect them after an explosive wildfire set them up in a popular camping domain in the Sierra de California National Forest, one of dozens of fires burning Sunday amid record temperatures that put the state’s power grid and can lead to planned power outages.
The California Office of Emergency Services said Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters were used for rescues that began late on Saturday and continued overnight.At least two others were seriously injured and another 10 suffered moderate injuries.Two campers refused to ask for help and remained at the site.the scene, said the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
A photo tweeted through the California National Guard showed at least 20 evacuees crammed into a helicopter, crouching on the ground, clinging to their belongings.Call.
Others took a car to safety, Juliana Park recorded a video of flames on either side of her car while she and others fled on a mountain road.
“A hike interrupted through unforeseen thunder, ash showers and the desire to cross a literal chimney to evacuate #SierraNationalForest on time,” Park tweeted.”I’m grateful to the SNF ranger who guided us down.I wish I had his name.”
The wildfire, called Creek Fire, exploded Friday and Saturday afternoon, jumped the San Joaquin River and cut off the only road to Mammoth Pool Campground, National Forest spokesman Dan Tune said.At least 2,000 structures were threatened in the domain about 467 kilometers north of Los Angeles.
The chimney had charred more than 184 square kilometers of uns sown wood.Temperatures in the region exceeded one hundred degrees (38 degrees Celsius).
The heat wave is expected to extend three-digit temperatures in much of California through Monday. Temperatures in the San Fernando Valley domain of Los Angeles reached 116 degrees (46 degrees Celsius) for the time being on a consecutive day, according to forecasters.
Unusually high temperatures resulted in yearly strength intake and loss of transmission due to wildfires reduced supply.Eric Schmitt, of the independent formula operator in California, which manages the state’s power grid, said up to 3 million consumers could lose strength.until 4pm on Sunday.
He said the place where the courts occurred depended on local utilities.The creek chimney forced the closure of a 915-megawatt hydroelectric plant in Madera County and a wildfire in Southern California cut off transmission lines with additional kilowatt loads.
Cal ISO projected a deficit of 4,000 megawatts and suggested others save electricity without using appliances and keeping air conditioners at 78 degrees (25.5 degrees Celsius) or more.
“I think it’s fair to say that without significant retention and from today’s consumers, we’re going to have to have interruptions,” said Eric Schmitt, vice president of Cal ISO.

Located about 56 kilometres northeast of Fresno, Mammoth Pool is surrounded by thick pine forests and is a popular destination for boating and fishing.
Completely dry situations and weather fanned the flames once the chimney was lit and multiplied by seven to 142 square kilometers in a few hours on Saturday afternoon.
“Once the chimney lights up, it creates its own climate, adding wind to the spread,” Tune said.
Lindsey Abbott and his circle of relatives were guided to protection through a stranger they followed from their camp near Whiskey Falls.
“It’s so hot that you might feel the flames coming through the window,” he told ABC30 in Fresno.
Ashley Wagner was among those rescued, along with two relatives and a friend, trapped in Logan’s Meadow the Wagner store, a 63-year-old business that passed through his aunt and was destroyed.
“My family’s story caught fire,” Wagner told the station.
In Southern California, crews rushed to put out several chimney spots that exploded.The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, known as Cal Fire, said the chimney site had burned at least 11 square kilometers of shrubs and trees.
Bob Fonzi nervously observed the passage of the chimney through the ridges near his secluded space on a winding road.
“If you sweep, come in through my back door, ” he told KABC-TV on Saturday.”And the challenge with that is that there’s nothing simple for firefighters.”

In east San Diego County, the valley chimney site exploded Saturday afternoon and firefighters warned that the chimney site was burning at a “dangerous speed.”By Sunday morning, it had destroyed at least 10 structures after burning 16 square kilometers and causing evacuations near the remote Alpine.in the National Forest of Cleveland.Al least two of the lost structures were houses, ABC10 News reported in San Diego.There’s no containment of the chimney site.
Cal Fire said about 12,500 firefighters were fighting 22 primary fires in the state.Despite the heat, firefighters had to involve two major fires off the coast of Monterey County.
California has noted 900 wildfires since August 15, many of which have been sparked through an intense series of thousands of lightning strikes. The smokestacks burned more than 1.5 million acres (2,343 square miles). Eight other people died through chimneys and nearly 3,300. destroyed structures.
