MOONDROP MIAD 01 Smartphone with Hi-Fi Audio Features Launches Worldwide for $399

Well, it’s quick. Just one day after its launch in China, the MOONDROP MIAD 01 5G smartphone with HiFi audio features is introduced worldwide.

The Android smartphone is now available at HiFiGo for US$399. It may soon appear in other stores: MOONDROP says the phone is available at “authorized stores” and e-commerce sites.

MOONDROP is a Chinese company known for producing high-fidelity audio products, adding headphones, earbuds, and amplifiers. The MOONDROP MIAD 01 is the company’s first smartphone, but it’s also one of the best smartphones I’ve seen in a long time thanks to the HiFi audio features.

At a time when most smartphone brands are ditching headphone jacks entirely, the MIAD 01 features two headphone jacks: a 3. 5mm unbalanced jack with 2VRMS output and a 4. 4mm balanced audio jack with 4VRMS output. The superior power output allows you to use headphones that wouldn’t work well on devices with only 3. 5mm jacks. This could also allow you to use longer audio cables without worrying about signal interference.

But headphone jacks are one of the phone’s HiFi audio features.

MOONDROP has also supplied MIAD 01 with two Cirrus Logic MasterHiFi DACs (Digital-to-Analog Converters), a gold-coated 6-layer audio circuit, and a separate LDO power supply. The company claims that the result is for dynamic diversity of up to 132 dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 117 dB.

The phone also supports a hundred degrees of virtual volume and comes with the MOONDROP Audio Center software that allows you audio functions (and supports spatial audio algorithms).

But this is a phone and just a media player. So let’s take a look at the rest of the MIAD 01’s specs:

All in all, the MOONDROP MIAD 01 turns out to be good value for money. It’s less expensive than mid-range phones like the Google Pixel 7a, but it offers semi-premium features like a 120Hz FHD AMOLED display, 12GB of RAM, and a fairly large battery. It also has a faster USB port than most mid-range phones and high-end audio features that help it stand out in the crowded mid-range smartphone sector.

But it’s still not a telephone for everyone. It’s a telephone designed for audiophiles, not those who have already ditched stressed-out phones with headphones in favor of wireless ones for convenience.

And it’s the first phone from a company that has never made a smartphone before. It comes with Android 13, which was first introduced nearly two years ago and MOONDROP doesn’t make any long-term OS promises or security updates (although the company does promise to bring updates to its Audio Center app).

The phone also doesn’t come with Google Mobile Services certification, which means it doesn’t come with the Google Play Store, Gmail, Chrome, Google Maps, or other Google apps and services.

MOONDROP implies that this is a point of promotion, as it means that the phone receives any data tracking from Google (and in fact, some niche corporations go out of their way to promote phones with Google’s Android versions for the sake of privacy). Users can still download apps or install a third-party app store.

But MOONDROP also notes that users who need to use Google’s cellular facilities can install it themselves (the steps deserve to be similar to what I wrote to manually install Google Play Store on Amazon Fire tablets (except they need to use Google Services Framework edition 13) .

However, the MOONDROP MIAD 01 presents an attractive price proposition as a device that stands out in a cluttered box thanks to specialized hardware and software aimed at audio enthusiasts. . . but also as a device of a company without a proven track record of offering. on the move for a device as complex as a smartphone. Oh, and MOONDROP doesn’t seem too confident about the quality of the phone’s camera either.

So while I expect the company to continue with this device for years to come, it’s probably more productive to ask yourself if you’re doing everything you need to right now before spending $399 on a device.

Why a damn physical media button? It’s also too big when it might be a little bigger. . . Maybe V02 will solve this problem.

Lately I’m a Murena phone, I wouldn’t mind if I could put e/os on it.

What is vrms and what impedance does it support?

The fact that it doesn’t stick to you or send an ad in your face thanks to the “G” means you’re safe, right?False, “G” owns the Internet, controls the Internet, adding Android operating systems, what are the only platform available for any Apple phone. Now the high-fidelity formula is worth the investment and the risk.

Good: 1080p display. MediaTek Dimensity 7050 is fine. LPDDR4x 12GB is fine. The cameras are fine. USB slot and phone sockets OK. Impressive audio specs.

Bad: Curved, curved AMOLED means your screen protector will never have good compatibility, AMOLED means imaginable burn. Did I miss the length and type of internal storage?Radio stations are not exactly destined for the Americas. $399: Ditch the curved AMOLED screen, fix the radio, lower the price, sell unlocked via truck on Amazon.

I’m going to assume that Moondrop’s build quality will be very good, as always. It’s very close!

Shave about an inch on the back of the phone and make it as thick as possible on the back to make room for the battery, and at least that would be something I can have in my pockets.

It’s a shame that it lacks B71 and N71, which prevents it from being fully compatible with T-Mobile US. For many, this is a momentary phone, so full compatibility with major US carriers wouldn’t be so bad. I’ll wait to get reviews from trusted reviewers on the audiophile network before pulling the trigger.

You don’t want Band 71 to work with T-mobile. I have a few phones without Band 71 on T-mobile and they work fine. This would only be a challenge if you tried it with other providers.
