MOBILE, AL (WALA) – Mobile University inaugurated the new reinforcement and conditioning of J. L. ‘s workforce. September 10.
The 4,000-square-foot facility will be used through student-athletes and academics from the university’s Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences as a outreach network.
The JLBedsole Foundation has awarded a truly extensive grant to Mobile University for an on-campus bodybuilding and athletics facility. for on-campus functions, networked sporting events and fundraising receptions.
“From day one, the J. L. Bedsole Foundation has been a vital component of our campus. This would not be imaginable without the help of Chris Lee,” said Dr. Lonnie Burnett, President of Mobile University.
Christopher Lee, Executive Director of JL Foundation Bedsole said: “I know that Mr. Bedsole would be very proud of Mobile University and the presence it has not only in our community, but also in the region and the country. You have created a culture of excellence, empathy and understanding ”.
Dr. Bruce Earnest, Vice President of Advancement at Mobile University, thanked all the donors who contributed to the assignment and said the university is looking for more partners. Donations can be made in umobile. edu/giving.
“We look at the long term of many things. As we thank them for this construction, we thank them for all that God has given us,” Earnest said.
The vanquished J. L. Bedsole was the first chairman of the baptist-affiliated college board of administrators and also the first to earn an honorary doctorate in 1968. During the opening ceremony, Burnett gave Lee an original honorary doctorate.
The establishment will be the university’s NAIA sports system that has gone beyond the 35-year-old weight room and educational facilities at pharr Gymnasium.
Students at the university’s Faculty of Health and Sports Sciences will use these amenities to gain hands-on experience and professional credentials in the fields of kinesiology, training sciences, game education and game management.
The complex will also be the site of a partnership with local schools to host network workshops, camps and college readiness projects for undersold student athletes.
