Microsoft Surface Duo will arrive soon, where you can book one

TL; DR: Starting August 13, you can book the new Microsoft Surface Duo from Microsoft Store, Best Buy, and AT-T starting at $1399.99.

Microsoft Surface Duo is waiting for scenes.

Originally announced on the occasion of the company’s hardware last fall, the dual screen marking Microsoft’s first foray into smartphones from Windows Phone (resting in peace) is expected to officially launch on Thursday, September 10.

Unlike similar devices with “folding” displays (see: Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold2), Surface Duo doesn’t fold in half. Instead, it consists of two separate 5.6-inch displays connected via a 360-degree swivel hinge that you can use in combination or in portrait or landscape mode. (Think of it a bit like a 2-in-1 mini laptop, but with touch screens on both sides instead of a physical keyboard).

As for the specifications, the device runs Android 10; It features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, an 11MP adaptive camera, a dual 3577mAh battery and Surface Stylus support; and comes in two configurations: 128GB or 256GB garage (sold for $1399.99 and $1499.99 respectively). Pre-orders for Surface Duo are online from August 12 and, as far as you can see, no one offers much in terms of discounts or gifts in reserved units… For now. We’ll be keeping an eye on these settings as the release date approaches, but in the meantime, here’s where you can place your pre-order:

Technically it’s not a sale or anything, however, it’s worth mentioning that you can get up to $700 in refund with a qualifying exchange if you pre-order from Surface Duo directly from Microsoft. (Click here for more information). The device will be unlocked, which means you can use it with almost any U.S. cellular provider, there is an option to charge a loose AT-T SIM card to your order if needed.

Best Buy Surface Duos is also unlocked and yours can be covered through a Geek Squad coverage plan at $10.99 according to the month if you wish.

If you’re going through AT-T for a Surface Duo, just know that it’s “locked” on that network (instead of buying an unlocked device, which can be used with any carrier).
