Microsoft Surface Duo is presented with $1399

Microsoft’s dual-screen Surface Duo was officially unveiled on Wednesday, and the device appears to be a multitasking device worth $1399.

The American technology company has hesitated to call the Android device a smartphone. Although this is what it is: a handheld device that can be used to call and send SMS.

The smartphone allows you to run other programs on one of the two screens. You can also run the same app on any of the screens at the same time. In demo videos and photos, the device looks like two Microsoft Mini tablets connected through a 360-degree hinge.

“We don’t have to mix two existing devices: the pill and the laptop,” Panos Panay, Microsoft’s product manager, said in a statement. “We had a vision of how we could take the most productive elements of each to create something completely new.”

Microsoft considers the new device to be the thinnest surface of the corporate to date, with a thickness of 4.8 millimeters when deployed.

The phone unfolds like a book. There is a visual bar in the middle of the device where the hinge is located. And a thick black frame along the edge of any of the screens and an 11-megapixel single camera for video conferencing and selfies.

However, the pair of glass touch screens is the attraction.

Surface Duo turns out to be Microsoft’s response to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold with a folding screen, only the Duo is larger with two articulated monitors from a flexible glass sheet.

The Galaxy Fold has a 7.3-inch main screen and a width of 4.6 inches when extended. Surface Duo features two 5.6-inch displays that span an 8.1-inch global display.

The newest product created with “productivity and creativity” in mind, according to Microsoft.

Buyers have access to the Android operational formula through a partnership with Google. The smartphone can be purchased in Microsoft.com, Bestbuy.com and via AT-T.

First announced in 2019, the Surface Duo smartphone arrives immediately after other two-in-one portable devices with higher prices.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold was introduced in 2019 at $80. And the folding Motorola Razr came out months later with a $1,500 fee. In July, Samsung announced its Galaxy Z Flip 5G for $1449.99.
