GitHub tweeted it’s for the Black Lives Matter movement.
“It’s a great idea and we are already working on this,” Friedman tweeted.
In an email, a GitHub spokesperson showed that the site replaced the default branch call for the new “master” repositories and provided users with their own default branch call for all new repositories created. They also stated that they published tips and teams for users who might remember their default branch in existing repositories.
On July 27, GitHub released notes for Git 2.28, confirming the name’s replacement.
GitHub’s Twitter page said it protected the black network and the fight against racism. In response, comments came in, it is not easy for the company to terminate its contract with U.S. immigration and customs authorities. The agency’s efforts to divide immigrant families on the U.S.-Mexico border have been widely condemned by generation companies. In June 2018, nearly a hundred Github coders wrote a letter to Microsoft saying they would leave the company unless the contract was terminated.
Amid global protests in reaction to the deaths of black civilians such as George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade and others, generation corporations such as Apple, Google and Microsoft have expressed a desire for racial justice. Technologists are also considering reviewing other terms such as “whitelist” and “blacklist.” He also recommended updating ‘white hat’ and ‘black hat’ with ‘ethics’ and ‘unethical’.
