Microsoft is testing a new feature in Edge that allows users to control extensions on a per-site basis. This feature has been spotted in the Dev version of the browser.
Extensions improve the browser with additional features and customization options. While users can enable or disable all extensions globally, there has been no option to manage them per site—until now. This feature may soon become available to all Edge users.
Going forward, users can click the Extensions button in the toolbar and toggle extensions for the active site at once. To apply changes, clicking the Refresh button in the Extensions menu is required.
Similarly, all extensions can be enabled for a specific site using the same toggle method. This provides a simple and easier method for managing extensions on a site-by-site basis.
While Google previously tested a way to block extensions per site in Chrome, it appears the feature was either not implemented or its current status remains unclear.
Microsoft Edge has a built-in feature that alerts users when browser extensions reduce performance. Now, it allows users to block extensions they no longer need from running on specific sites. This is a useful customization option for managing extensions.
