It’s that time of the month again: Microsoft released its Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 versions 23H2, 22H2, and 21H2. Windows 11 23H2 and 22H2 users will have their systems updated through KB5041585, while 21H2 users will get KB5041592. After the upgrade, their build versions will be 22621. 4037, 22631. 4037, and 22000. 3147, respectively.
The updates come with quality innovations for versions 23H2 and 22H2 that were part of a previous update (KB5040527) released in July. For those who are curious about the details, those updates fix everything from BitLocker recovery issues to ensuring your device doesn’t boot into a recovery screen.
For 21H2 users, this update is the price for enhanced security, with additional coverage against the latest threats. It also fixes some known issues, such as BitLocker recovery screens appearing after the July update and tweaks to lock screen functionality.
But here’s something I wasn’t expecting: a Serving Stack Update (SSU). Versions 23H2 and 22H2 get KB5041584, which aims to make the update procedure smoother and more reliable. There are no known issues, so users are having trouble installing the patch.
KB5041585 and KB5041592 are automatically downloaded and installed through Windows Update. But if you want to get them right away or want to install them offline, you can get them from the Microsoft catalog website: KB5041585 can be downloaded from here, while KB5041592 can be chosen. up from here.
Also, a word of caution for 22H2 users: Microsoft has announced that the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11, 22H2 edition, will end service on October 8, 2024. This means that you will only receive security updates until then. Array No more feature updates or non-security fixes. You may need to update your device to the latest edition, 23H2, to keep it secure.
