(CBS DETROIT) — McLaren Health Care hospitals in Michigan were rocked Tuesday after an outage affected PC and phone formulas, the fitness formula said.
Patients at the 13 hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, doctors’ offices and other formula service centers (adding the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute) were asked not to come in for their appointments while treating the problem, unless they were contacted through an employee.
Officials said some non-urgent or elective procedures would likely be postponed “out of an abundance of caution. ”
“We perceive that this scenario could be frustrating for our patients – and for our team members – and we deeply and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” McLaren said in a statement. “We ask for patience as our caregivers,” and teams are working more diligently than ever to provide our communities with the care they want and deserve. “
“We will work diligently with any patient whose appointment is rescheduled. “
McLaren advises all patients to bring the following information to their appointment as they continue to investigate the condition:
At least one McLaren Insurance Plans online page remained unavailable Tuesday night with an error message and apology greeting visitors to McLaren Health Plan’s site. The McLaren Health Advantage website can be accessed but a yellow banner appears at the top of the page informing users of the issue.
“We are progressing to the point of disruption and do not have a timeline to fix functionality,” the statement said.
From 9:20 p. m. On Tuesday, the door to the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute remained inaccessible.
This is the first technological disruption McLaren has faced in the last year. In 2023, McLaren Health Care said that an investigation into suspicious activity discovered on its network had revealed a ransomware attack.
At the time, the fitness formula said that some of its information had possibly been leaked on the dark web and that it would notify affected people.
