Members of the Little Rock Education Association will give “a chance” in the first week of a reconfiguration in the Little Rock School District, the organization’s president, Teresa Knapp Gordon, said Friday.
The newly announced post cancels, at least for now, the association’s previous resolution to teach users on the district’s 40 campuses.
“LREA members voted last night to give the progressive option a chance over the next week,” Gordon said in a morning statement. “We will meet and reconsider after carefully evaluating the situations and settings of the week.
“However, let me be clear, ” continued Gordon. “The health and protection of our young people and educators is our most sensible priority. We will be used as pawns in the damaging political game that the governor is playing with the lives of our young people.”

If teachers see threats to the protection of academics and teachers or teachers are treated as “superfluous,” “we will not hesitate to take steps to prevent unjustified exposure and COVID-19 disease,” Gordon said.
Late Friday afternoon, Superintendent Mike Poore welcomed the association’s decision.
“We know that last week increased anxiety when we replaced our delivery during the first week of school,” Poore said in a short message posted on the district’s website. “We are pleased to note that the Little Rock Education Association voted to be physically in the classroom at the beginning of the school year. We who when our staff and netpaintings paint together, can triumph over all challenges, and we look forward to success returns.”
The teachers and staff union had previously voted this month to start the school year next week through academic training only virtually or online, and forgo any classic in-person education until the number of covid-19 cases decreases dramatically. Pulaski County. Specifically, the fix sought a positivity rate of less than 5% for 14 consecutive days.
The district’s initial plan for the school year, adding the first week, is to offer families the choice between a one hundred percent virtual education program or a classic campus program five days a week.
In response, a little more from the district’s academics chose the classic program or made a selection, which puts them by default in the classic campus program.
The employee agreement said last week that school training was not for academics and adults in covid-19 virus cases in the county. The agreement also noted that young people with the greatest desires are at peak risk of contracting the virus.
“Little Rock School District educators are ready and willing to teach our students virtually since August 24,” the agreement said on August 14, adding, “We refuse to enter harmful buildings that put our students and ourselves at risk of covid-19. It is unethical and immoral to verify to force us to do so.”
In response, Poore announced Wednesday that the district would replace the first week’s schedule to dispel teaching considerations on campus. The superintendent also cautioned that the fact that painters do not show up for paintings can result in insubordination and dismissals.
The proposed week reintegration plan asks students whose surnames begin with A to M to attend school on Monday and Thursday of next week. Those whose names start with N to Z will take on campus categories on Tuesdays and Fridays. Wednesday will be a virtual learning day for all students and time to clean up schools.
Infant pre-garden students will attend school on campus every five days next week. Families who want a position for their children on days other than the days they are assigned to school can still send students to school, Poore said. Breakfast and lunch will be served every five days. However, Poore’s message on Friday indicated that school buses would not work on Wednesday.
The exchange day plan is for the first week, unless a week is needed at a time, Poore said.
Only 25% to 30% of district enrollment will be on campus at some point, leaving schools to ensure the physical distance of students and staff, and identify and resolve any demanding situations that arise, all before more students begin attending. – on-campus classes.
Among the other topics about the beginning of the school year highlighted through Poore:
Students who have opted for 100 percent virtual schooling will need to log in to the virtual school formula starting Monday and must have gained more commands on a letter through the district’s ParentLink communication formula on Friday. Those who haven’t won the data touch their manager.
Any driving force on the bus that has earned your address can call the transport phone bank at (501) 447-4165.
Any replacement or assignment made after June 26 will get bus transportation for the new front until September 3. If this is the case, a parent can contact the assigned school’s transportation coordinator to see if there is a preventative closure. to the new confrontation.
Breakfast and dinner will be served every five days to students in use and virtual. The takeaway schedule for virtual academics will be on school websites. All students will have breakfast and lunch, including on Wednesdays. Parents of virtual students were asked to respond to a survey expressing their goal of participating in the meal service. The survey was sent through ParentLink.
