Great Point Studios, a studio investment/management company specializing in film and television infrastructure, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) today announced a partnership with global content leader Lionsgate to build a $125 million primary production facility in Newark.
The sleek 300,000-square-foot full-service entertainment complex will be New Jersey’s first studio designed in particular for television and film production. It is expected to create more than six hundred new jobs in the long term, with priority for Newark residents. , and generate more than $800 million in annual economic impact for Newark and New Jersey.
The complex will be in Newark’s southern neighborhood on the site of the former Seth Boyden housing site, which is conveniently close to Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark Harbor, NJ TRANSIT, the trail system, and several major highways. Operations are expected to begin at the end of 2024.

The complex will come with production stages ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 square feet, offices, area and parking for 400 cars and 65 trucks. The facility will offer a full suite of on-site production services, adding adhesion and electricity, equipment, accessories, set design assembly, restoration, on-site catering, cleaning and security service.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s active encouragement, in addition to the recently passed law on film and television incentives, has helped lure Lionsgate to New Jersey.
