Christian Schaller, Red Hat’s senior director of software engineering who worked on the project, called the launch of the first Fedora ThinkPad “a concerted effort to evolve Linux as a computer operating system.”Beyond placing a Linux label on Lenovo devices, Schaller said changes were being made to optimize Fedora for ThinkPad devices, adding a high-performance mode that will allow computers to run faster when connected to a power source. As a low power consumption mode to maximize the lifespan of fedora and Red Hat battery also run in “tower detection” that will prevent your computers from getting hot while sitting on users’ lap.
In a blog post, Schaller wrote: “This is the culmination of our paintings in recent years, creating the LVFS, adding Thunderbolt to Linux, getting a better fingerprint reader on Linux, using HiDPI screens, using hidpi mice, creating the option of a secure desktop with Wayland, which runs with NVidia to make sure that Mesa and Nvidia drivers can cooperate through Array by creating Flatpak to ensure that we can carry the benefits from the boxes to the work area and in the same way do so impartially with the supplier.”
Starting with ThinkPad P Series workstations before being deployed on Lenovo’s ThinkStation series, Lenovo will offer comprehensive certification for Ubuntu and RHEL workstations, covering everything from security patches and hardware driver updates to firmware and BIOS optimizations.
Linux distributions as a pre-installed option are fashionable, and Dell provides Ubuntu as a preloaded option for its XPS 13: Developer Edition.
