A new edition of the popular Linux TOOLkit REMnux is now available for download, offering security analysts an advanced arsenal of computers to analyze Linux malware.
Built on Ubuntu, REMnux has been in flow for over 10 years, now in its seventh incarnation. The latest version, REMnux 7, includes some of the previous iteration teams and also adds some new ones to the list.
As with previous versions, the new toolkit is configured in particular to minimize friction experienced through malware analysts and investor engineers working to better perceive Linux threats.
REMnux 7 would be the product of a comprehensive rebuild effort, designed so that Linux users can propose adjustments to the package and create their own tools.
The greatest charm of security-centric Linux distribution is that researchers have access to all malware research tools, without having to discover, install, or configure them.
The large number of individual teams that make up the REMnux 7 toolbox allow analysts to detect potential threats, engineering opposite code, perform reminiscences analysis, explore formula and network interactions, and more.
“I’m very excited to publish the new edition of REMnux,” said Lenny Zeltser, who takes care of the assignment and manages the toolkit.
“I would like to thank all the authors of the computers that make up the REMnux distribution, that we would be stuck analyzing malware with pen and paper.”
REMnux 7 can be implemented in other ways, depending on your preferences; it can be used as a virtual device, installed as a full Linux distribution, or run as a Docker container.
