Apple introduced its self-service repair program in April, which gave the impression of being a major victory for the right to repair the movement. People who need to buy a screen, battery, or other replacement parts without taking their phone to a repair shop can do so. now do it
But really, fix a phone yourself? It’s much more complicated. Apple’s repair guides assume that you’re Apple’s official team, which you probably don’t have on hand. They must be hired from Apple, but as The Verge discovered, that means the company will send you 79 pounds of equipment to upgrade a 1. 1-ounce battery. It’s strangely affordable (Apple will pay the shipping bill), but it’s not practical (not only is it difficult to transport the equipment, but if you don’t return it within 7 days, Apple will rate it up to $1,200).
All things considered, it actually turns out that Apple allows other people to make their own corrections, but it doesn’t necessarily make things easier. And maybe that’s the point. As lawmakers across the country take into consideration regulations that would require corporations to make their products repairable, Apple could possibly point to its self-service repair program and say it’s technically imaginable for users to do so. . . it’s not a popular choice (because why jump through the hoops installed by Apple when you can only take your phone to a repair store?).
Meanwhile, other corporations are taking other approaches. Google and Samsung have announced partnerships with iFixit to offer affordable spare parts, repair manuals and tools. The same goes for Valve, maker of the Steam Deck laptop. And it looks like iFixit will soon do it. sell almost every one and every Steam Deck, adding the motherboard with an AMD Aerith processor. Unfortunately, spare batteries will only be available later.
Here is a review of the generation news on the Web.
Apple’s self-service repair program was introduced last month, meaning you can buy original spare parts, get instructions, and rent tool kits. But the actual procedure is so complex that it seems Apple doesn’t expect anyone to. https://t. co/SWt0ILyNNp

Laptop thermals are vital in determining whether a cellular processor can reach its true potential. But this is arguably truer than ever with 12th-gen Intel Core Alder Lake-P chips: Some i7-1270P laptops are slower than i5s. -Models 1240P. https://t. co/fDFve2sLpB

That was going to be the case, wasn’t it?
The right to fix also deserves to mean that you can go to your local repair shop and do it through the young nerd at the counter. Forcing us all to take off our own screens was never the pass. Allowing anyone, adding local merchants, to do so was the passal.
That’s what I think too. This sounds like a passive competitive move through Apple.
And in the meantime, each and every phone I bought can be repaired by simply cutting the back cover and a set of precision screwdrivers. Man, it just happened to me how strange it is. It’s not like I’m looking to end this kind of story, I worry a lot more about not-so-Google-centric operating systems.
What were your last two phones? It is difficult those days to locate a phone that does not require cutting the screen (with heat, spatulas and suction cups) to access the battery . . .
