The low-end supermarket chain Lidl has taken a new step to face its virtual competition by launching a new app that aims to retain visitors.
Internet Retailing reports that the Lidl Plus app introduced secure online grocery shopping parts in combination with benefits that can only be obtained by those who visit a physical store.
The concept is that users will be able to be informed about the newest gifts and take advantage of the coupons found in the app for purchases they make in person.
In addition, the app will provide consumers with the latest news about what their local Lidl store offers, as well as offers from other stores and outlets that the company has partnered with.
The app is being tested lately on a small scale, which means that not all consumers can download it right now. However, once this initial phase is completed, it deserves to be available in the UK.
Lidl is an attractive case because it has gained popularity over the past decade, but still manages to avoid offering products for sale directly on the Internet. This application can only be a springboard to, however, completely adopt e-commerce, but for now, it turns out that the content integrates more virtual installations without fully getting involved in home deliveries.
The good news is that even though you are behind in the game of buying groceries online safely, you still have a smart chance of catching up temporarily if, despite everything, you make the decision to sell through the web. Morrison’s has shown that launching grocery store online years after its competition is not a challenge as long as consumers can interact effectively.
