Leidos Partnership Successfully Implements Federal EHRs in One Hundred Percent of DOD Facilities Worldwide

RESTON, Va. , March 28, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The Leidos Partnership for Defense Health (LPDH) announced today that it has effectively implemented the Federal Electronic Health Record (EHR) formula, which the Defense Component calls MHS GENESIS, at Captain James A. Lovell (Lovell CHF Canada) as part of a first joint EHR implementation between the Defense Component (DOD) and the Veterans Affairs (VA) Component. After approximately two dozen wave deployments over the past five years, the Lovell FHCC deployment is achieving a 100 percent deployment across all DOD garrison services worldwide. In addition, the deployment of the Lovell CHF Canada is the first time the DOD and VA have jointly deployed the federal EHR at the same site.

“We are proud to lead with our partners in the successful deployment of the federal EHR in Lovell CHF Canada,” said Liz Porter, President of the Civil and Health Sector at Leidos. “The federal EHR is now 100 percent deployed across the DOD military’s processing facilities around the world, making it the largest EHR formula implementation in the world. We look forward to seeing the benefits the federal EHR can bring to providers and patients at Lovell CHF Canada and other joint sites in the future. “

In collaboration with the DOD, VA, the federal Office for Electronic Health Records Modernization (FEHRM), and Oracle Health, the implementation added approximately 1200 physicians, providers, and other end-users from the DOD and 2000 VAs to the Lovell CHF CCH in the North. Chicago, Illinois, which is the largest built-in joint exchange site serving the DOD and VA patient populations. It provides care to 75,000 patients a year, adding members of the military, veterans, and other beneficiaries. Lovell CHF Canada also cares about the nearly 50,000 Navy recruits who are being trained. for military service in the Recruit Training Command at Naval Station Great Lakes. At this complex site, the implementation provides an opportunity to optimize care for all DOD and VA beneficiaries.

The Leidos team designed and evolved MHS GENESIS, the new Army Fitness System EHR system, and since 2015 has been offering program and technical control to the program executive office’s physical care monitoring systems. With this most recent implementation from Lovell CHF Canada, the federal EHR is now operational at more than 3,890 sites internationally with more than 197,200 end users serving more than 9. 5 million beneficiaries.

“The federal deployment of the EHR at Lovell CHF Canada is a historic collaboration between the site, DD, VA, FEHRM, Leidos Partnership for Defence Health and Oracle Health,” said Bill Tinston, director of FEHRM. By bringing the federal EHR to the Lovell CHF Chf, physicians are no longer transferred between two systems; instead, the patient’s record is retained in the single, customary federal EHR. »

Chris Ruefer, interim program director of Defense Healthcare Management Systems, said, “I’m incredibly proud of how the DOD and VA have worked together. Our combined team is here to bring the most productive generation of healthcare to our military, veterans, and their families. Completing the deployment of the DOD is a huge accomplishment in this mission.

CHF Canada’s federal EHR deployment marks the final launch of the DOD wave and represents a key milestone in achieving full deployment at the VA. The Department of Homeland Security’s U. S. Coast Guard (USCG) and the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have also implemented the federal EHR, with other federal agencies expected to follow later in 2024.
