LEADERSHIP: MLB to GM expulsion, Brock cried

A sneak peek of what’s happening in the major leagues on Monday:

IN A BOX

Major League Baseball is examining the cases that led to the expulsion of Washington Nationals manager Mike Rizzo from a luxury nightclub in Atlanta for yelling at referees.

Rizzo pitched on Sunday in the seventh inning. Veteran team leader Joe West said Friday at the commissioner’s workplace that Rizzo had yelled at referees before the Nationals-Braves series.

“I wouldn’t take that from a player. I wouldn’t take that from a coach,” West told The Associated Press.”If he were Donald Trump, I’d expel him too. But I’d still vote for him.”

MLB had opened an investigation.

“We’ve already been in communication with the Nationals about what happened in today’s game, and today we’ll talk to the arbitration team,” MLB said in a statement.”We hope that Joe West’s team will provide a complete account of his views., and we will continue with them accordingly.”

PASSIONATE FAREWELLS

The Cardinals mourn the loss of Hall of Fame gardener Lou Brock, who died at age 81.The fast gardener held primary league records for stolen bases in a season and a run until Rickey Henderson restarted them.

“Lou Brock is one of the most respected members of the St. John’s Organization.Cardinals.Louis and one of the highest productives who has ever used birds in the bat,” said owner William O.DeWitt Jr.

Brock died a week after Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver died at age 75.

During their stellar careers, Brock and Seaver faced off another 157 times, clashes between batsmen and more prolific pitchers for either star.Rock hit Array250 in front of Seaver with 10 doubles, one house run and 21 strikeouts.

BANCO SANCHEZ

Catcher Gary Sanchez temporarily went bankrupt through the New York Yankees.

Sanchez is in a funk of 3 by 28 that reduced his batting average to 0.130.He did not play on Sunday when the Yankees lost 13th time in 18 games, 5-1 to Baltimore, and he might not return for some time..

“I had a lot of ideas on that last night and I think that’s the way to go now,” coach Aaron Boone said before the game. “I hope a day or two off or whatever you do here can help you get started.”

Boone discussed the move with Sanchez, who would have liked to get out of the crisis on the ground.Sanchez, whose defensive talent has been criticized, has seven home runs and 15 RBIs.He hit 34 home races last year.

NOT WELL PHILLANT

The Phillies put outfielders Jay Bruce and Roman Quinn on the disabled list, leaving the list stagnant before a busy period.Bruce again aggravated a quadriceps injury and Quinn placed himself on the seven-day concussion injury list.

The Phillies begin on Tuesday a series of five doubles games in 15 days.

Philadelphia has only four major gardeners on the active list: Bryce Harper, Andrew McCutchen, Adam Haseley and Kyle Garlick, and the team seeks to restrict McCutchen’s repetitions after breaking the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee last year. The club may remove Scott Kingery from the disabled list this week.

TAKE A LOOK AT IT

The White Socks will see how pitcher Dallas Keuchel feels, a day after he left his start in Kansas City due to a sharp fall in the back.

Keuchel (6-2, 2.19 ERA) pitched five scoreless innings and got rid of him after hitting a few warm-up shots before the sixth. It was indexed day by day.

In his first season with Chicago, former Cy Young Award winner won his last four decisions.
