The Flash Storage Development API specification provides unprecedented control of virtual garage hosts

Hyperscale and cloud programs are redefining the way the global works, plays and communicates, and its architects and developers have just won a great help. KIOXIA America, Inc. (formerly Toshiba Memory America, Inc.) today announced that an application programming interface (API) for your software-enabled FlashTM generation will now be available on GitHub®. This new generation combines software, host, and native flash semantics to make flash less difficult to manage, faster to deploy, and more predictable across nature.

First announced at the 2020 Open Computing Summit in April, KIOXIA’s Flash-enabled generation removes barriers to classic hard drive technologies to deliver a whole new way to maximize flash potential. By fundamentally turning data between the SSD Garage and the host into cloud-enabled environments, software-enabled Flash generation frees developers from strictly explained “reader” behavior, presenting demanding scenarios for programs that require workload isolation, knowledge location, and quality of service (QoS). Using the API specification, hyperscale garage flash developers achieve all the speed and capacity of the flash with the ease of defining the software.

In addition, software-enabled Flash generation allows architects to maximize the benefits of their SSD garage investments, adding the unprecedented ability to freely and flexibly outline garage behaviors between the host and flash. This leads to benefits such as user-definable latency and functionality management, as well as optimized fitness and flash resiliency. The API summarizes generational differences, eliminating the desire of developers to replace code with each new flash memory edition, reducing progression efforts and enabling immediate deployment of new generations of flash memory.

“It is in a spirit of innovation and collaboration that we are advancing with the release of the Flash software-enabled API for access and review,” said Eric Ries, senior vice president of the Memory Storage Strategy Division (MSSD) at KIOXIA America, Inc. “We need cloud computing and the garage progression network to gain advantages from all that this new generation has to offer. It allows hyperscale garage developers to get rid of all the flash possibilities in their exclusive environments in a way that is simply not imaginable with the classic garage. methodologies.”

As an advent to progression and key features enabled by Flash software, KIOXIA America, in collaboration with the LINUX Foundation®, will host a webinar titled “Unlocking the Power of Flash with a New Flash Software-Enabled Technology” on August 26 at 11:00 am PT. Click here to register.

Software-enabled Flash hardware meets PCIe® standards, enabling a broad ecosystem and accelerating open innovation across all products. The API specification can be obtained from the KiOXIA America, Inc. GitHub website: https://github.com/KioxiaAmerica/SoftwareEnabledFlash.
