The countdown to entries for the “How We Age” photo contest begins, presented through the Institute of Public Health (IPH) in April.

There are still six weeks to submit tickets for this competition, which hopes to replace the way other seniors are represented in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The island-wide competition, which is supported by the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) and the Photographic Association of Northern Ireland (NIPA), is open for registration until the end of June and awards several major prizes.

The “How We Age” contest seeks to capture the lived stories of older adults and seeks photographs that show older adults enjoying life and performing daily activities. Under the themes ‘Stay active, stay social, stay connected’, photographs constitute other seniors in an original and inclusive way, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, politics, culture, skills, source of income or position code.

The festival is free, open to citizens of Ireland and Northern Ireland over the age of 18 and is open for access until 30 June 2022.

Participants may submit up to a maximum of 3 images and all entries must be submitted via the online access form on the IPH website, available in www. publichealth. ie/photo. Acceptance of terms and situations is a condition of access. .

Prizes come with gift vouchers for photographic devices worth €/£500 for the first prize, €300/£ for the prize of the moment and €100/£ for the 3rd prize, depending on the place of residence of the winners.

From the inputs received, IPH intends to create an inventory symbol gallery that will be used in its ongoing paintings to promote healthy aging and broader public fitness themes, which can also be made available to spouses and partner organizations as an open access symbol resource. .

Details of the winners will be announced the last week of July and published on the IPH website.

Later this year, the Institute intends to launch the “How We Age” gallery of determined photographs to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons on October 1.
