A regulatory document called the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act (WARN) filed with KansasWorks last week says that 79 Lenexa employees from Hostess Brands are affected.
Jobs will be eliminated in batches on Sept. 7 in anticipation of a plan to permanently close the Johnson County, Kansas, site.
JM Smucker showed a spokesperson statement: “After a thorough review of our operating style and business desires while coordinating the integration of Hostess Brands, we have announced an update on our organizational design crisis and resolution to close our office in Lenexa, Kansas.
“With these decisions, some workers who will ultimately leave the company. These workers will be fully educated in their transition, in accordance with our established outplacement processes.
The planned layoffs and workplace closures emerged around the same time as the hypothesis that J. M. Smucker was assessing customer interest in its Voortman Bakery biscuit and wafer business.

According to a Reuters report, the American food organization is discussing with Goldman Sachs what interest it could generate in the business unit it acquired in the acquisition of Hotess Brands.
J. M. Smucker reported its fiscal 2024 effects in June, showing sales fell 4% to $8. 2 billion. However, acquisitions, disposals and foreign exchange increased by 8%.
