We don’t know much about the iPhone 14 yet, but we’ve heard that Apple’s next lineup will eliminate the Mini and instead larger phones. A July report from nikkei Asian Review predicted the death of the iPhone 14 Mini, and an April study Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s note received through MacRumors also reported that the Mini wouldn’t take long in this world. extreme”, with two length characteristics for each.
While the hypothesis about names is applicable to the discussion of Apple’s 2022 lineup as it is to the unfortunate 13, rumors suggest a small update in naming conventions, with an iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max, with “Pro” denotes high-end specs and “Max” refers to the larger screen size.
Apple’s last two iPhone levels have featured the same 6. 1-inch length for the base model, rising to 6. 7 inches for the Pro Max. According to the same July Nikkei Asian Review report, Apple will keep those screen lengths for the iPhone 14, but will eliminate the 5. 4-inch Mini. This rumor is corroborated through a March report from 9to5Mac. Reports have shown slow sales of the iPhone 12 Mini, so it wouldn’t be unexpected for Apple to retire the small phone in 2022.
While the length of the next iPhone is expected to remain the same, the Pro Max’s demo frames would be 20% smaller compared to previous generations of iPhones, according to CAD representations shared via Twitter leaker ShrimpApplePro. This means that the screen would be larger However, it is vital to note that this rumor should be taken with caution as ShrimpApplePro does not have an extensive history to back up its speculations.
In 2020, rumors began to emerge that the iPhone was completely ditching physical SIM cards, and now a string of leaks suggests that the iPhone 14 might be the first line to do so. 9to5Mac put an end to the cascade of leaks, which began with a Brazilian site claiming that the iPhone 15 Pro would be physically SIM-free. MacRumors then reported an anonymous report that Apple was preparing major carriers for eSIM-only phones through September. Apple leaker DylanDKT has shown that he “agrees” with reports of the removal of the tray for physical SIM cards, his Twitter account has supposedly disappeared since then.

The iPhone thirteen is on sale, but we are already thinking about the iPhone 14.
It’s too early for credible rumors of the iPhone 14 release date, but we expect Apple to hold its annual fall iPhone event in September 2022, as it does almost every year, and the phones will launch soon after, often next Friday. Sometimes Apple staggers the release dates of Express models, especially when it introduces a new design or size. Therefore, it is imaginable that the diversity of the iPhone 14 has more than one release date.
Here’s what we know:
A few years ago, Crumpe delved into the timeline of Apple events and emerged with a compelling Labor Day hypothesis, which you can read about here. According to the 2022 calendar, the Labor Day rule would place Apple’s September event (and iPhone 14 unveiling) on September 7, with a September 16 release date. However, our Assumption of Labor Day is a week off for 2021 and, due to coronavirus delays, about a month off in 2020.
Anyway, nothing is known about iPhone 14 pricing, but Apple hasn’t made any major changes between 2020’s iPhone 12 and 2021’s iPhone 13, so the existing pricing design is at least a smart position to start our speculation. However, Kuo predicts that the high-end 6. 7-inch phone (the iPhone 14 Pro Max) will launch at a record price, less than $900. Compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which costs between $1,099 and $1,599, it’s a bargain.
For reference, here is the amount of iPhone edition thirteen diversity prices at launch.
Kuo shared data on potential iPhone 14 camera upgrades in an investor score reported through 9to5Mac just after the launch of the iPhone thirteen. rear camera for the Pro and Pro Max models, compared to the 12 megapixels of the previous iPhone.
However, demo analyst Ross Young speculates that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have a hollow, pill-shaped design for compatibility with the front camera and Face ID. The idea is that the hollow cutout is for the Face ID point projector. and pill-shaped cropping of the front camera and Face ID camera, according to a January report from MacRumors. The alleged leaked CAD representations of the iPhone 14, noted through 91mobiles, corroborate this rumor.
Kuo’s hypothesis about the camera’s megapixel capacity coincides with a note from recent studies by Haitong International Securities, also reported through MacRumors, and a report by research firm TrendForce. Jeff Pu and TrendForce assume that any of the Pro models will be supplied with a 48-megapixel wide lens. . Pu, however, adds that the iPhones will play with a triple-lens rear camera formula with an ultra-wide lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens in addition to the 48-megapixel wide lens. The analyst adds that the Pro versions of the iPhone 14 can also have 8 GB of RAM. (By comparison, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have 6GB. )This is corroborated through a report from a Korean blog that cites resources in the domestic source chain, as MacRumors discovered.
The iPhone thirteen camera updates come with a new cinematic mode, ProRes video, and some innovations for zoom capabilities. In the past, we reported rumors that the entire lineup would include lidar, the iPhone 12 Pro’s exceptional depth-sensing feature, but lidar is over after all, it only appears on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max. Apple may expand the feature to its full lineup in 2022, but we haven’t heard anything yet.
Another camera feature we’re still waiting for is an advanced telephoto lens. While the iPhone thirteen Pro’s zoom features have gained a 3x optical zoom, it still pales in comparison to many competing flagships, adding Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra, which has a 10x optical zoom.
The iPhone 14 may only have a camera setup that rinses the back of the phone, the large camera bump.

The feature that turns out to be the most rejected in the world of Apple rumors is the return of Touch ID. Early rumors supported the return of touch ID on the iPhone 12, and when that didn’t happen, the hypothesis turned to the iPhone. thirteen. But even before the launch of the iPhone thirteen (without Touch ID), the word on the street had been replaced again: iPhone 14 would be. Now, that’s less maximum probably too. At the end of September, Kuo predicted that only in 2023 will iPhones return to Touch ID technology. That would be. . . iPhone 15?
Jon Prosser, YouTuber and iPhone leaker (whose track record is certainly uneven) made waves the week before the announcement of the iPhone thirteen by publishing renders he ordered of the iPhone 14 Pro Max in “real photographs and patterns” that were leaked through alleged resources at Apple.

Prosser’s renders corroborate several rumors reported in the past, adding Kuo’s notchless demo and punch-hole camera, and the titanium alloy chassis of the iPhone 14 Pro, which was first discussed in a July report from JPMorgan Chase. We were expecting to see the thirteen iPhone without a notch, but instead we were given a narrow notch, but still very notched. with punch-hole cameras and screens underneath, Apple hasn’t yet gone down a notch.
But Prosser’s renders seem to corroborate previous reports that Apple would, despite everything, remove the notch from the iPhone in 2022. And Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also hinted at its removal in a September issue of his Power On newsletter, in which he planned a “complete redesign” for the iPhone. 14, while Young says Apple could introduce a hollow-shaped, tablet-shaped design for the new iPhone. it was later shared via Prosser.
Those who are crossing hands for a notchless iPhone from the iPhone 12 and whose hopes have faded through the iPhone thirteen can now look forward to a possible realization of their full-screen dreams on the iPhone 14 of 2022. While it’s unclear if this rumor will come true, a February report from the Taiwan Economic Times (via MacRumors) suggests that the iPhone 14 Pro’s design has been finalized as it enters the early stages of manufacturing.
MySmartPrice recently released planned CAD renderings of the iPhone 14, which represents, you guessed it, a notch. But the 14 Pro style renderings published the day before on 91Mobiles demonstrate a notch-free demonstration. If those rumors turn out to be true, it seems like having to jump on the Pro to get rid of the notch.
A diagram of the iPhone 14 screen, shared on YouTube via Jon Prosser.
The other great design replacing Prosser’s rendering screen is a flattened camera bump. According to Prosser, the iPhone 14’s frame is going to be a “thick guy,” thick enough, it seems, to circle all the camera hardware without an awkward and sticky camera setup on the back. Why is the iPhone 14 intended to be so thick?Maybe to space out a larger battery, or even the periscope camera Kuo projected in 2020. However, Kuo and famed tech sponsor Max Weinbach reported a thicker camera bump on the 14 Pro and Pro Max.
Two previous rumors that possibly wouldn’t materialize, at least according to Prosser, are the death of the Lightning port and USB-C charging (however, the EU may force Apple to charge USB-C ports on iPhones). Rumors of an iPhone without ports has been circulating for a long time, but it seems that they will not come true in 2022.
As for the colors, Prosser’s rendering colors were not based on any genuine information from his sources, for a pale golden color, which he claims to have noticed for himself. However, it’s still early and Apple hasn’t actually finalized its color. range for the iPhone 14 still.
The diversity of the iPhone 13 came in a rainbow of new colors.
Here’s everything we know (and think we know) about the iPhone 14 lineup specs and potential new features.
Apple’s 2022 iPhone may offer longer battery life, according to a report by Taiwan’s Economic Daily News (via MacRumors). This is due to a new 5G chip that can also provide Wi-Fi 6E connectivity to the new iPhone.
It’s possible that the iPhone 14 will only ship with Wi-Fi 6E, according to a November note from Kuo, reported via 9to5Mac. However, the analyst says the parts needed for Wi-Fi 6E will be scarce. According to rumors, Apple’s VR headset also has WiFi 6E.
The previous hypothesis that the entire iPhone 14 series would be upgraded to an A16 chip, improving on the A15 chip of the newer iPhone in line with Apple’s previous model. However, Kuo predicted in March that the A16 will only appear on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro. Max, while the 14 and 14 Max will retain the A15.
It’s possible that all iPhone 14 models will come with Apple’s ProMotion display, which lately only have the iPhone thirteen Pro and Pro Max variants. ProMotion increases the display refresh rate for smoother performance, up to 120 Hz. These are more speculation than actual rumors, in the adjustments in Apple’s supply chain that would make it easier for the company to offer the feature to its next lineup.
Young, however, speculates that Apple will continue to offer ProMotion presentations exclusively for its Pro models. The analyst suggests that Chinese manufacturer BOE is one of Apple’s OLED LTPO presentation suppliers, but the company has a large production capacity at the moment.
Apple incorporated 5G connectivity into its iPhone 12 lineup and, unsurprisingly, also included it in the iPhone 13. There’s no explanation as to why we might not see a 5G-enabled iPhone 14 either. A July report from the Nikkei Asian Review also predicts that Apple will “launch fully on 5G” in 2022.
Like 5G, MagSafe incorporated the iPhone into the 2020 iPhone 12 lineup. Magnetic snap-on accessories come with wallets, batteries, and chargers, and this is one of our favorite features of the iPhone 12. The iPhone thirteen also supports MagSafe, and we expect the same for Apple’s next generation of phones.
An 11-hour rumor about the iPhone thirteen through Kuo that did not materialize the addition of satellite connectivity, which would allow users to send sms via satellite in spaces without cellular coverage, at least in emergency situations, as reported by Bloomberg. it’s nowhere in the iPhone 13’s range, but that could mean it will come on the iPhone 14 instead.
