A recent report has indicated that the next generation of iOS won’t be dropping any models, but iPad users won’t be so lucky.
Owning a telephone is usually unavoidable these days, and part of that is making sure your device’s software is up to date. However, telephone brands can only purchase one device for a limited period of time and with each new release, some others. The telephone or tablet is left out. In light of this, a recent report gave us an idea of what to expect from Apple’s next generation of software updates, adding what will and possibly won’t be released.
The news comes from French site iPhonesoft, which claims that an undisclosed source has revealed which Apple devices will be in line for the next update circular. First, the smart news: It looks like iOS 19 will be available for most devices, from the iPhone XS to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, most older phones probably won’t have access to most of the new features, and most of them are probably stored for at least the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
However, it looks like the iPad may not be so lucky with the release of iPadOS 19. According to the report, the long-term update would require an A12 chip to run. Therefore, the iPad 7 and iPad Pro 2017 (both use the A10 chip) will not be able to download the update. The update will only be available on iPad mini 5, iPad 8th generation, iPad Airs 3rd generation, iPad Pro 2018 and later.
There’s still a lot we don’t know about the next generation of iOS and iPadOS updates. However, they will most likely come with more Apple Intelligence updates, at a faster rate than the initial release. However, with the release of iOS 18. 2, Apple has taken a big step forward with features like Visual Intelligence and Genmoji. Apple Intelligence is also capable of creating summaries for the user, although this has recently been criticized for being inaccurate.
It’s worth noting that this news comes from an unknown source, but it wouldn’t be unexpected to see some iPad models discontinued. Even if your device works without the latest updates, we still hope to stay up to date so that you have all applicable security updates.
