iOS 18. 3 Enables Apple’s Intelligence for Users, Forces That Make Disabling Impossible

iOS 18. 3 will be released soon, as shown through today’s beta with notification summary updates, the release will also allow Apple Intelligence for iPhone users and the Mac and iPad to adapt to the adaptation.

So far, Apple Intelligence has been a set for users.

When installing iOS 18. 1 or 18. 2, users would be asked if they were looking to allow AI updates, and only after confirming the available features.

But in iOS 18. 3, that’s going to change.

According to the beta release notes they have just released through Apple, iOS 18. 3, iPadOS 18. 3, and MacOS 15. 3 will automatically allow the installation of Apple intelligence.

Here are the official main points about the change:

For new users or updating to iOS 18. 3, Apple Intelligence will automatically enable iPhone integration. Users will have access to Apple’s intelligence features after setting up their devices. To turn off Apple Intelligence, users will want to go to the Apple Intelligence Settings Panel

Similar notes are for iPadOS and MacOS updates.

For users with a compatible AI device, the vast majority have already enabled Apple Intelligence.

However, for those who haven’t already, Apple will convert the transfer into those AI features when the update arrives.

What’s not transparent is what will happen to users who, at some point, allowed Apple Intelligence and then disabled it in settings.

That’s terrible! So if you turn it off, will it continue to eat 5-7GB of storage? So far, it doesn’t have the ability to blank the area used for AI after disabling it, and I’m sure it will continue that way.

Hopefully, iOS 18. 3 and its updates from other pairs would not possibly re-enable the features, however, we’ll have to wait and see what happens after the public release arrives.

iOS 18. 3 is overall a soft feature release, but it includes several tweaks to AI notification summaries, the ultimate AI feature arguable so far.

It turns out that Apple feels that, with those changes, and a few months with Apple Intelligence publicly available, now is a smart time to enable its AI features through default.

What do you think of this change? Is this unexpected at all?Let us know in the comments.
