Tesla is offering free lifetime supercharging for Cybertruck Foundation Series electric pickup trucks in stock nationwide. Earlier this month, we reported that the American EV maker has dozens of limited-edition Cybertrucks worth more than $100,000 unsold at delivery centers across the United States, and this new benefit may just be a supreme effort to get rid of expensive electric cars that are gathering dust.

As a reminder, the Foundation Series models were the first to be manufactured and delivered. They were presented in the United States until October, when the regular models went on sale, and were priced $20,000 higher. The extra cash received priority delivery to consumers, lifetime use of Tesla’s complex suite of fully autonomous (supervised) driving assistance, Powershare Mobile Connector, and several featuresArray

Those who ordered an all-new Cybertruck Foundation Series didn’t lose the life of Tesla’s Supercharger DC fast charger network, but the company is now offering it to others who want to get their hands on stockArray’s angular pickup. However, there are some asterisks involved.

According to terms posted on Tesla’s website, the order must be placed no later than December 27, 2024. The promotion is “subject to replacement or termination at any time,” meaning the automaker can simply remove the benefits overnight without warning. Additionally, the be offer is connected to the owner’s Tesla account and cannot be transferred to any other vehicle, user or order, even in the event of a change of ownership.

In other words, if the car is sold, the new owner will not get free Supercharging–as is the case with some older Model S EVs–and the old owner will also not get free Supercharging on another Tesla EV. Another eyebrow-raising stipulation is that “Tesla reserves the right in its sole discretion to remove the free Supercharging from your vehicle in the event of excessive charging or unpaid fees related to Supercharging.”

While cutting benefits for unpaid fees is quite reasonable, “overcharging” is arbitrary: there is no specific limit on kilowatt hours per load inquiry or per month, so it’s up to the owner to know what to expect.

As of this writing, Tesla has two versions of the Foundation Cybertruck series in stock: the $99,990 all-wheel-drive with two electric motors and an EPA rating of up to 340 miles, and the $119,990 Cyberbeast that comes with 3 motors. an EPA of up to 320 miles.

That said, one could order a new, non-Foundation Series Cybertruck for $20,000 less and get delivery the same month. The optional extras are not included, but Tesla throws in three months of free Supercharging and a three-month trial of the so-called FSD (Supervised) feature.
