According to an Intel PDF that obtained the Chinese generation EXP revision, long-lasting Intel “Devil’s Canyon” processors can seamlessly produce five GHz in air cooling. The new Core i7-4790K and Core ifive-4690K processors will be more than just an increase in clock speed compared to the upcoming Haswell upgrade chips.
The new Core i7-four790K processor will have a fundamental clock of four GHz, expanding to four and four GHz; this chip will have 8 threads (four physical cores, four x hyperprocessed cores), 8 MB cache, and an 88W TDP. Its younger brother, the Core i5-four690K will have a fundamental frequency of 3.5 GHz, with Turbo Boost up to 3.9 GHz. I probably don’t have Hyper-Threading, so we’re trapped with four hearts. Reduces the cache to 6 MB, but includes the same 88W TDP.
The two new chips founded in Devil’s Canyon will also have DDR3 RAM at 1600 MHz. The most important thing to forget here is that the new Devil’s Canyon processors will be the first Intel processors to have a massive and popular clock speed: four GHz. With a four- and four-GHz Turbo Boost, EXP Review and now myself, we recovered “the five GHz air-cooled era.” The five GHzs don’t deserve to be a challenge for air cooling, but if you use a replacement cooler, such as a Corsair H110i, for example, five GHz and more don’t deserve to be a challenge. We deserve to expect Intel to better unveil its Devil’s Canyon chips at Computex, which begins in a few weeks.
