WASHINGTON – The investigation through National Security Investigations (HSI) and the Australian Federal Police Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Service (AFP) resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old Australian citizen now facing a total of 247 charges of 245 suspected sick children in the United States.

In 2019, HSI special agents in Tallahassee, Florida, obtained data from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) in Florida related to the exploitation of minors in the United States through an individual in Australia. The individual impersonating a popular YouTube star in order to befriend underage women and earn their trust. He then blackmailed the underage victims and asked them to be filmed doing various sexually particular acts, many of which had to do with physical contact with other minors and/or animals.

HSI contacted AFP to help identify the predator in Australia. With the help of the Western Australian Police (WAPOL), the AFP temporarily learned about the issue in Western Australia and introduced Operation ESK. HSI Canberra supported Operation ESK by obtaining data on the subscriber of the YouTube criminal, as well as past and potential victims. Forensic examination of the topic’s social media account led to the identity in October 2020 of 112 American victims of online child exploitation and the continuation of the investigation, 134 more in January 2021. through AFP and lately is in custody.

Operation ESK is a joint investigation through HSI Canberra, AFP and WAPOL, with HSI Tallahassee, LCSO and the Florida Law Enforcement Department (FDLE).
