In its new accelerated schedule, Android 16 arrived with its first beta, and now you can install it on Google Pixel. Here’s how.
Google is supporting all Tensor-powered Pixel smartphones with Android 16, dating back to 2021’s Pixel 6 series and coming up to the latest Pixel 9 series.
The Android 16 Beta is available for all of the following devices:
In particular, at 11:45 pm, the Beta Android 16 is not yet live this tool.
With much, the fastest way to obtain a new edition of Android in its pixel is to relaunch it. It is a relatively simple process, but wants to prepare to do it. This is how.
IMPORTANT: While Android betas are safe, it’s in the most productive interest to unlock your bootloader, or at least allow OEM unlocking in the developer settings before installing an OTA file.
To get started, you’ll first need to download the files needed to actually put Android 16 Beta 1 on your Pixel.
There are two tactics to do this. First, you can install a factory image, which cleanses your phone and starts from scratch. Alternatively, and the way we are going to detail here, there is an OTA file, which is installed in its existing edition of Android without cleaning your phone.
You can download the beta OTA file from Google’s Full OTA Image hosting site. That site contains OTA downloads for sideloading different updates, including the Android 16 Beta, on every Pixel and Nexus device, so you’ll need to scroll down to ensure you are downloading the file that is associated with your device. OTA downloads for Android 15 QPR1 are provided HERE.
For Android 15 Beta, Pixel 6 / Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 / Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8 / Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel Fold, Pixel Nine, Pixel Nine Pro, Pixel Nine Pro XL, Pixel Nine Pro Fol and A Pixel pill are available.
It won’t be to install it on the original Pixel/XL, Pixel 2/XL, Pixel 3/XL, Pixel 3A/XL, Pixel Four/XL, Pixel Foura, Pixel Foura FiveG, Pixel Five, or Pixel fivea.
Next, you’ll boot your Pixel into Recovery mode. To do this, fully power down your handset. Then hold down on the Power button and the Volume down button at the same time until you get to the Bootloader page. You will know you’re in the right place when you see an Android figure lying down on the screen.
Using your volume buttons, move down towards the recovery mode. Select clicking on the force button. Alternatively, if you are already connected to a PC with BAD, you can use the restart recovery command.
Now you see a smaller Android beggar with an exclamation logo. From there, press the force button and the volume button up for approximately a moment to absolutely enter the recovery mode. The release of the UP volume button will send it to recovery.
Using the volume buttons, scroll down to Apply update from ADB and select it with the power button. This will launch a mostly blank screen with text near the bottom directing you on how to sideload an OTA.
This step is because it is the only way to move the ota record downloaded to your phone. You will have to have bad and fast equipment in a practical place. You can download ADB equipment on the Android Developers website, either Android Studio as a whole or in command lines. You can also use the universal controllers of CLOCKWORKMOD ADB, which can do the procedure a bit on Windows devices.
Whenever everything is in place, you can now place it next to the OTA registry. In Windows, make sure the Spark OFF command is directed to the BA tools folder and write the ADB key instruction. If you are in macOS or Linux, do the same at the terminal (use the “CD” and “LS” commands to make sure your terminal points to the correct folder – Google if you want help) but write Array/ADB Key items. You will want to insert the registration call of the Arrayzip folder that downloaded from Google and press Enter to start the process.
If everything is working properly, you should see some dialog on your computer and handset that shows the process of the sideload and installation process.
Once the OTA is finished in the installation, they will bring you back into recovery mode. The newest step to jump to the new update is to the Restart Now option with its force button.
