The Internet revolution has replaced the way we live. It has replaced the way other people interact, socialize and connect. It has made business effective, and as a result, life has become much less difficult for everyone who uses it. However, there is a safe catch for this gold mine. Human dependence on the use of Internet sites and applications has become the norm. Before we know it, we become powerless and dependent on this virtual world to the point where other facets of life begin to be compromised. For this, it is imperative to block certain Internet sites and applications that consume more human time than the same before they become harmful.

There are several tactics to block Internet sites and online programs on the computer we have on our computers and smartphones, and we will dive into the main ones below. In addition, there are self-exclusion systems available in many countries around the world that block your access to Internet sites. For example, in the UK, all regulated betting sites are compatible with Gamstop, the local gambling self-exclusion program. However, you can be sure that there are several internet sites where you can check sports betting, not on Gamstop as well.

This approach is one of the simplest tactics to allow only secure web content on your devices. The Internet browser used can be changed to block banned apps and websites.

Allow the Internet browser used to open programs and Internet sites only from that browser where permission for the content has been obtained beforehand.

We can use the URL blacklist to block all URLs and then use the whitelist to secure domain names and subdomain names that adhere to a trend or set of rules that match the administrator’s usage preference.

This can also be done if we only block the URLs that we do not need and the rest of the sites and programs on the Internet can work in the same way.

The host record is that record used through a non-public device to access the Internet. By changing this record, a user can manually prevent the release of certain records. This can be done seamlessly non-publicly without having to acquire an extension or subscription to block websites and apps, it comes with the extra jobs of having to edit your computer’s host registry.

For Microsoft Windows, we will open notepad and use the directory: Windows folder / System32 / drivers / etc. on our hard drive. Below the last line we will write “127. 0. 0. 1” followed by a space. Then the URL of the online page we need to block will load. If we need to load new Internet sites to block, we will load new lines underneath, and then after all save the file. Then we will restart the computer and see that our settings have been set with the websites that are no longer available.

We will type “sudo nano /etc. /hosts” and press Enter, then enter the password of our macOS account to open the hosts file. Similarly, like Windows, one can load new Internet sites at the end of the file, one site consistent with the line, the format “127. 0. 0. 1 www. websiteurl. com”. We will then have to type “sudo dscacheutil -flushcache” and press Enter to apply the changes.

There are thousands of computers available on the web that can be used to block websites and apps that a user no longer needs to access. They are loose or presented in other packages that can be monthly or annual. This is the most widely accepted way to ban websites and apps on devices.
