A leading player in the generation and innovation landscape in the South, Southampton Science Park has had the South Coast Tech Awards since its inception. Here we communicate with the CEO, Robin Chave.
Robin, you strongly support our rewards program. Yes, we are delighted to participate, and this year we are pleased to sponsor two award categories: Tech Start Up and High Growth Tech Company, which reflect our express wishes of companies at all stages of growth.
Southampton Science Park has never been about offering corporations with a prestigious physical base. A big component of what we do here is the expansion of cutting-edge corporations and the broader regional generation economy. Coast Tech Awards to highlight the successes of ambitious corporations in our region that are doing remarkable things. In the framework of component generation, it can be quite complicated to be noticed, it is very competitive.
On what other tactics is the commercial expansion of the science park based? Almost everything we do is aimed at helping businesses prosper, as this expansion creates jobs and wealth throughout the region.
The first thing we do is supply a domain without borders. It’s quite a bit to have a position that houses start-ups and multinational organizations, but that’s what we have in the Science Park. Often, restrictive rents obstruct business expansion and this deserves not to be the case. Tech corporations want to act temporarily when opportunities arise, which usually means they want the flexibility to expand their groups and the dominance to accommodate them.
As a sole proprietor, you can become a member and enjoy the comforts of our incubation center’s shared workspace. Large corporations progress to having their own offices or even the exclusive profession of a building. Eventually, corporations have the option to build custom premises. if they wish.
The key to the moment we do is to inspire networking and the exchange of wisdom. Whether unofficially in our cafes or at our SO Social events, through our biannual SO magazine, or more officially through our diverse events program, we inspire everyone who works here to care – it’s one of the key advantages of being here.
Last but not least, we devote a great deal of power to structured trading programs. Catalyst, our business accelerator, runs annually, giving successful applicants the advantages of getting six months of world-class mentoring and workshops aimed at giving them the most productive chance of success. 80% of start-ups that go through this program are still in business after five years, compared to a national average of only 40%.
We are also home to SETsquared Southampton. La SETsquared association is considered the most successful educational business expansion incubator in the world. establish a board of trustees and governance structures, and take your sales and marketing device to the next level. These demanding situations can easily become barriers to expansion. SETsquared is helping to navigate far beyond those and other obstacles.
What demanding situations are affecting the generation sector at the moment? The biggest challenge for most corporations right now is skill, whether it’s recruitment and retention. There is high wage inflation in all spaces and this is tricky for corporations when their margins are already under pressure. of headline inflation and supply chain disruptions resulting from Brexit, the pandemic and wider geopolitical events.
While we can’t solve this completely, we raise the price on corporations looking to recruit through our exclusive environment, a nonviolent but easily accessible conservation domain, with daycare, gym, parking, coffee shops, and social club, all on-site. We know that the other people who paint here enjoy racing here and that’s part of the challenge when it comes to leading a team to success.
Of course, we are also highly connected to the University of Southampton, so we can link leaders with the University’s vast pool of postgraduate and postgraduate talent.
What’s next for the science park?As altactics, a lot is happening! We continue to focus on flexibility to meet the conversion desires of generation corporations as new operating tactics are developed. We are also halfway through the progress of a new engineering center that will house the Future Towns Innovation Center. – a truly exciting initiative that will reap advantages of sustainable economic expansion across the region – while also investing in our own sustainable infrastructure, such as renewable energy through solar panels.
More immediately, we just opened programs for our next Catalyst Business Accelerator program starting in September 2022 and in fact, I look forward to bringing together the other people looking for cutting-edge businesses to grow and thrive over the course of the next year.
