Apple Vision Pro has finally arrived in the UK.

The device is the U. S. tech giant’s first step toward the combination and is expected to serve as a marker of consumer appetite for such devices.

Vision Pro is a laptop, designed as a pair of glasses with internal screens that overlay programs and content onto the genuine world around the user so that they blend in.

We’re sharing a sneak peek at this week’s guest on our sister exhibit Brave New World, podcaster and brain trainer Jim Kwik.

Jim tells host Evgeny Lebedev his most sensible tips for a healthy brain and discusses the benefits you get from the people around you. Listen to the full episode here.

Hi, I’m Rochelle Travers and this is The Standard’s Tech and Science Daily podcast.

Apple Vision Pro is coming soon to the United Kingdom.

Now, let’s get into it.

One of the UK’s most sensible sports psychologists explained to Tech and Science Daily how England could win the Euro 2024 final.

“We now have a broader view of things, which takes us from a state of risk to a state of challenge.

“When we are in a state of threat, we feel concern and this is transferred to our bodies. Our body then starts doing things we don’t need it to do. For example, scoring a penalty. “

This is Dr. Misia Gervis, a sports psychologist at Brunel University London and Wycombe Wanderers Football Club. In the past he worked with lionesses, Olympians and many other elite athletes.

“So the ability to re-deliver, the ability to be a supplier is anything you can’t know the day before a big game like this. It’s a skill that you must have acquired over time.

“So fundamental mindfulness skills, grounding techniques, connection techniques, all those things. ”

Watching the European Championship in England, Dr. Gervis was inspired by the team’s mental evolution.

“I think if you look at the tournament, psychologically, things have changed. So in the first two games we saw a bit of fear. We saw a disconnect between the players, we saw that things were a little awkward.

“And then I think the decisive moment was Jude Bellingham’s overhead kick attack, which suddenly gave hope and translated into another space.

“And then if you look forward and look at the sanctions, the sanctions were a perfect example of other people down to earth, other people calm, other people attacked and in the present. ”

So now the question: what did the Lions have to do to win the final?

“When you talk about a team game, it’s about how others relate to each other, how they’re connected, how safe they feel. “

Dr Gervis says it is no coincidence that this England team is within striking distance of the trophy. As for the mental paintings I made, it took years.

“Gareth Southgate is one of the most emotionally and psychologically knowledgeable coaches there is. This England team at the moment is the culmination of many, many years of painting and I am not surprised that they are where they are not surprised at all.

England faces Spain in the final of Euro 2024 this Sunday, July 14 at 8 p. m.

After a long and highly anticipated wait, the Apple Vision Pro has finally arrived in the UK.

The device is the U. S. tech giant’s first step toward the combination and is expected to serve as a marker of consumer appetite for such devices.

Vision Pro is a laptop designed as a pair of glasses with internal screens that overlay apps and real-world content around the user so that they blend in.

If you feel like buying one for yourself, you will be charged. Prices start at £3,499 for the style with 256GB of storage or, you know, you can just head to an Apple Store and try it for free.

On this week’s episode of our sister podcast, Brave New World, host Evgeny Lebedev’s guest is none other than podcaster and brain trainer Jim Kwik. He shares his tips for a healthy brain. Here’s a preview.

“The user we spend time with is who we become. The science is that we have these things called mirror neurons that activate our empathy and we unconsciously mimic, you know, the examples that surround us.

“They say we’re the average of the five other people we spend the most time with. You know, if nine other people went broke, be careful, you might be number ten. “

Jim says there are many other additional benefits to fitness that also come from the people around you.

“One of the longest-running studies on longevity and happiness took place at Harvard University and concluded that long life and degrees of happiness had less to do with exercise and diet. They had more to do with relationships.

“Even if you look at the blue zones, and this is up for debate, a lot of it has to do with the fact that they have strong family ties, they eat food together and that social connection is very important.

“To also combat intellectual illnesses, such as loneliness and depression, by having other people by your side. ”

Let’s move on to the commercials.

Soon, Stephen Hawking’s files will be made public, explaining why seagulls may not need his tokens after all.

Happy to see you again.

The clinical and private archives of the late Professor Stephen Hawking have been made available to the public.

The vast collection at Cambridge University Library includes a letter to his parents, in which the theoretical physicist talks about his famous PC who, in his own words, speaks a bit like a Dalek, but with an American accent.

There are also tens of thousands of pages of documents related to his work, as well as photographs and scripts from his appearances in films and television series such as The Simpsons, as well as memories of his meetings with popes and presidents.

The bestseller of A Brief History of Time, From the Big Bang to Black Holes, died in 2018, at the age of 76.

One suggests that narcissism decreases with age.

Research conducted by the University of Bern in Switzerland found that people tend to become less narcissistic as they age, from formative years to adulthood.

However, the differences between Americans remain strong over time, so those who are more narcissistic than their peers in their formative years tend to remain so into adulthood.

The team analyzed insights from 51 longitudinal studies involving more than 37,000 participants aged 8 to 77.

And finally,

Now we all know how painful it can be to go to the beach to enjoy a sandwich, some chips or an ice cream, and then spend part of the time trying to avoid being bombarded by seagulls.

But, despite what our many frustrating encounters with them may suggest, a new study has found that urban gulls prefer raw fish, even when presented with human-made foods.

Research from the Center for Ecology and Conservation found that chicks raised on urban nutrition of bread and cat food showed more interest in foods that would come from foraging, such as mackerel and sprat.

The effects imply that human-related foods are reliably provided and easy to obtain, but when fish is available, they obviously prefer it.
