‘Horizon Zero Dawn’ PC Requirements Revealed Ahead Of Launch

Horizon Zero Dawn is something of an anomaly. It’s one of Sony’s premiere PlayStation 4 exclusives, produced by one of Sony’s in-house studios, Guerrilla Games—the dev behind the Killzone franchise—and yet somehow it’s releasing on PC this Friday.

You’ll notice that pretty much no other PS4 exclusive has made its way to Steam or the Epic Game Store other than timed-exclusives like No Man’s Sky or The Witness, both of which were made by third parties.

Even Bloodborne, which was published by Sony but created by FromSoftware, remains playable only on PS4 (perhaps someday that will change and we’ll get to play it in glorious 60fps, but I wouldn’t hold your breath). God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Uncharted 4, Ghost of Tsushima—all these terrific PS4 games remain solidly exclusive to Sony’s console.

And yet, almost miraculously, Horizon Zero Dawn comes to PC on August 7th, landing on both Steam and the Epic Game Store for $49.99. This is the “Complete Edition” of the game, and comes with:

The game will also feature enhanced graphics and graphics options, making it the “definitive” edition, and by far the best. It might even be enough to lure me back in to give it another go—I found it “beautiful and boring” when I played on PS4—though I have so much to play these days, finding the time may prove difficult.

In any case, the game’s minimum and recommended PC requirements have been released, so you can double check if your system is up to snuff before purchasing.

Here they are:

Nothing too terribly demanding here, though if you want most of the bells and whistles you’ll have to be on relatively modern hardware. I look forward to seeing the game side-by-side with the PS4 version.

Here’s the PC trailer showing off some of the changes and enhancements coming to Horizon Zero Dawn:

I write about video games, TV and movies.
