HMD’s Pulse smartphones are the company’s first in the Nokia brand

HMD Global is the company to blame for almost every Nokia-branded smartphone released since 2017, but earlier this year, the company hinted that it would start producing some phones that would be sold under its own brand.

The first phones have arrived. Unfortunately, they’re not as interesting as the HMD Fusion modular smartphone that the company announced in March. Instead, the HMD Pulse line of phones is a set of three budget devices aimed at the European market that will sell for around 180 euros ($193) or less. However, there’s one thing that sets these phones apart: they’re all designed to be easy to repair.

While Nokia used to be one of the biggest phone companies in the cell phone world, this has been the case for years. Nokia sold its smartphone department to Microsoft in 2014 and ceded the Nokia company to HMD in 2016.

HMD created a buzz with its early devices by providing Android smartphones with decent features at affordable prices. But that’s not enough to stand out on those days. And Nokia’s call doesn’t go as far as it used to.

With the licensing deal allowing HMD to use the so-called Nokia set to expire in a couple of years (unless it’s renewed), the company might feel it’s time to start building its own logo recognition. O HMD is making plans to renew that agreement and continue to offer products with the Nokia logo in the coming years. . . but you also need to use the HMD logo on some models to hedge your bets.

Anyway, here’s a look at the new HMD Pulse range:

HMD has partnered with iFixit to expand self-repair guides and sell self-repair kits for replaced parts such as batteries, displays, and ports.

While none of those phones will be sold in North America, HMD plans to launch a device with its own logo in the United States. The company also announced an HMD Vibe smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor, a 6. 56-inch 90Hz display, a 4,000mAh battery, and a 3. 5mm headphone jack would arrive in the U. S. in May for $149.
