Here’s why telecommunications are hiring more women

Telecommunication corporations are hiring more female applicants to publicize gender diversity in the industry and increase their visitor base.

Companies like Idea, Airtel and Reliance Jio rent women for many key roles, adding hospitality. Some executives say women are in certain types of jobs, such as visitor services, etc., Economic Times reported.

India’s second largest telecom operator Vodafone has had hired 52% women out of the total 120 from college campuses last year.

Speaking to ET, Suvamoy Roy, Director of Human Resources at Vodafone India, says having a variety is a strategic business imperative for them.
