Tired of writing emails from your phone?Google’s AI-powered Help Me Write tool for Gmail is coming to Android and iOS for you to write replies in no time.
Since Google I/O 2023, Google has released a bunch of AI teams in progression, such as its updated Google Bard chatbot and Help Me Write, its new writing assistant. Help Me Write was in the past only for desktop registered Workspace testers, however, users will now be able to use it in the Gmail app on their smartphones. This indicates wider implementation soon.
Help Me Write works in two main ways. You can edit an email you’ve already written; for example, you can shorten it if it has too many words, make it more formal, or insert emojis to create a more casual atmosphere with the “I’m lucky” option.
Alternatively, if you are in a hurry, you can provide the tool with a quick spark and it will write everything down for you. You can then edit it yourself or use the same enhancements (see symbol below) as before to adjust the Duration and Pitch.
In testing, we found that AI is better as an editor than as a writer, but if you have to write a lot of responses to tedious emails, letting AI take over most of the work can be a huge time saver.
To get started with Help Me Write on Android or iOS, download the Gmail app and sign in to the account that has access to the Workspace prototype. Then, the next time you write an email, you deserve to see a Help Me to Type Spark Off in the bottom right corner of your screen.
The update is rolling out, so even if you’ve signed up for Workspace Labs, you may still not see the Help me write option in Gmail on mobile.
To access Help Me Write and other AI teams it’s running on, you want to sign up for Google Workspace labs by invitation only and get approved.
To request this, make sure you are logged into your Google account in the browser of your choice and access the official Workspace Labs registration page. After reading some details, you will find the customer who will want to mark it before they can click “Submit”. Do so and sign up for Workspace Labs.
Since the devices are only in beta, don’t expect them to be the best – we recommend reading all emails written by AI before sending them in case you encounter any massive bugs. You’ll also notice that AI uses American English lately: so if you live in a domain that uses “color” of “color” or calls eggplants “eggplant,” you might want to fix the AI a bit.
