HARRISON — The Scribner Sawmill and Farm Historic Site is scheduled to open for tours starting at 1 p. m. p. m. Monday, May 30 (Memorial Day) and Saturday, June on Jesse Mill Road.
People can be informed about the “Sash” saw used to cut wood, know how to put a barrel together, see how the shingle mill cuts the shingles in the long shed, see how the blacksmith operates the forge in the blacksmith’s workshop and farm, according to a factory press release.
The barn and refrigerators are open for self-guided tours.
This season, volunteers will complete the construction of the newly expanded wooden structure to serve as an exhibition shed. The shed will include the first mill-like elements that will tell the story and beginnings of the mill.
There will be a weekend from June 3 to 5. Anyone interested is welcome. There is a lot to do with the installation of the cladding, the windows, the ox horseshoe and the assembly of the exhibition.
A donation of $5 per adult is required.
