Google’s John Mueller: Use HTML photos to view graphics

Google’s John Mueller explains whether it’s appropriate to publish graphics as photos or whether it’s more advantageous to use HTML.

This topic was discussed in a bubble from Google’s Webmaster Center on July 24.

The owner of a site asked Mueller what is the most productive way to demonstrate graphics with knowledge on a website.

Is graphics acceptable, in Google’s eyes, as images?

Or would it recreate HTML graphics?

This is what Mueller advises.

Mueller says there’s nothing about publishing a chart in the form of a symbol.

In fact, it strongly recommends using photos that create graphics with HTML.

Relying on photos to convey a message is a valid fear when it comes to browsing a page through Google.

Site owners can ensure that nothing is lost in the translation, so to speak, through the alt attribute.

“I think it depends a little on what you need with the chart. Usually, I only loaded this material as a symbol and made sure that it also has an understandable alternative feature for the symbol.

So, if there is critical data in this chart that you want to transmit, place it in alt attributes. So that we can retrieve it in text form, so that other people who can’t see the symbol can also get this data. But in general, I’d only use symbols. »

Another way to achieve the chart goal for Google is to upload textual content around the image.

To be sure, Mueller does not recommend that the site owner post a symbol on an internet page and leave it that way.

It is unlikely that an Internet page containing only one image, without text within the framework of the page, will gain much popularity in search results.

Site owners also can’t count on symbol search results, because Mueller says the graphics don’t look good in Google Images.

Therefore, the most productive possibility for an owner to publish a classified chart in search effects is:

“I think, in general, this kind of graphics probably wouldn’t do anything fantastic in symbol search, because it’s hard to believe that someone is looking for that specific graphic using Google images. But, essentially, the symbol is the most productive approach.

I don’t think you have much to pay to create this HTML chart and put the numbers and tags in the text, because it’s anything that can be easily put into the framework of the blog or in the alt feature.”

Mueller didn’t upload that component, but I wouldn’t mind not to mention the importance of page speed in a discussion about the images.

When it comes to very giant images, it is essential not to let the length of the record be uncontrollable.

Being the speed of the page a rating factor, you avoid vehemently publishing inflated pages with photographs of several megabytes.
