Google is turning the search effects it presents to European users

While the DMA will go into effect in March 2024, Google is making a number of changes to some of its most popular products, adding Search and Android. One of the most notable changes for consumers will be the corporate charge of “dedicated units. “It searches for it every time EU citizens search for something to buy, by displaying links to comparison sites on the web. The new search pages will also include “query shortcuts” as much as possible for users to narrow down their search.

If you’re looking for hotels, Google will reserve a dedicated area in its search effects for comparison sites and offer more top points for individual results, adding images, star ratings, and more. To comply with the DMA’s rules and force those changes, Google will also want to remove its own services, such as Google Flights, from search effects.
