May 11 (Reuters) – Alphabet Inc’s Google on Wednesday unveiled plans to connect the real world and its virtual universe of search, maps and other facilities with new advances in synthetic intelligence.
At its annual Google I/O developer conference, the company anticipated a feature that would allow users to take videos from wine bottle shelves in a store and have its formula identify black-owned vineyard options.
“It’s like having a supercharged Ctrl F for the global around you,” said Prabhakar Raghavan, Google’s senior vice president, referring to the keyboard shortcut for locating anything in a document. “You can search all over your global, ask questions anywhere and anywhere. “
Later this year, Maps will launch an immersive view for major cities that fuses Street View and aerial photography “to create a rich virtual style of the world,” Google said. (Reporting through Paresh Dave in Oakland, California and Yuvraj Malik in Bangalore; Editing via Paul Simao)
