The charming collection of 3D puppies from Google that you can see, in all its length and with dazzling realism, has just expanded, but with additions so small that you miss them.
Animals, if you haven’t noticed them before, can be added to your living room (or wherever you are) thanks to the magic of augmented truth (AR). The RA, as you know, is where the symbol your phone’s camera sees with internet pieces overlaps. Of course, this also works with tablets and other devices, but the phone is the most convenient.
You can read how to view all the animals, adding the new ones that have been added, here.
So what’s new in the world of three-dimensional creatures?
Well, they’ll all be universally acceptable. They are all insects and here is the full list of newcomers, as revealed through The Verge. Try shaking as you read.
Rhino beetle, Scarab Hercules, Beetle Atlas, Deer Beetle, Deer Beetle, Deer Beetle Miyama, Bright Ball Beetle, Jewel Beetle, Ladybug, Firefly, Rosalia batesi, Machaon, Butterfly Morpho, Atlas Moth, Mantis, Grasshopper, Dragonfly, Bamine
The prettiest ones, as far as I’m concerned, are the two butterflies and the moth, plus the ladybug. And the scariest is the rhino beetle. The animations, as we expect from Google, are incredibly detailed and rich, so they are attractive from all angles.
On Android devices, once you’ve ordered the animal to appear, you can’t miss it, it’s pretty big. But there is a button marked Show actual size. Press it and watch how it is minimized, for example, from 500% to 100%. Much less intimidating. Although a little more insidious, perhaps.
Android users can also pay attention to the sounds of creatures, which is more fun or scarier depending on their non-public anxieties.
