“Ghost Of Tsushima” on PS4 is the ranked game of the entire generation

I’ve been watching this for some time, but I’m able to make a declarative statement: according to math, the recent release of Ghost of Tsushima is the game most loved by enthusiasts of the entire generation, at least according to the User of Metacritic Scores, the maximum productive metric we have to track these things.

A few weeks ago, I reported that Ghost of Tsushima was accumulating thousands of reviews and had an impressive 9.3/10 for a user score, higher than its Metascore review of 83, a little lower in the giant PS4 version catalog.

I expected the user’s score to be minimized over time, as higher scores do so as more and more reviews arrive, but this has never been the case. Now, with 15,000 reviews, much more than just any other game mentioned on the site, it still ranks at 9.3/10.

Looking at how this compares to other titles, I’m able to claim it as the highest rated game of the generation, with some caveats.

First of all, it’s the generation of consoles, like on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, because The Witcher 3 has a 9.4/10 on PC (although on PS4 it’s a 9.2 where I guess it doesn’t paint either).

Secondly, I guess I have to give credit to the Xbox One edition of Superliminal, which has a score of 9.5, but with only 684 ratings. The PS4 edition has a 6.0, the Switch edition has a 9.7 with only 250 reviews and the PC edition has a 7.9, so anything is a little strange here, and I think declaratively, the “established” score of Tsushima Ghost is clearer. and its 9.3/10 are deeply impressive with 15,000 reviews.

I’m still looking to understand why critics didn’t stick to both Tsushima and the fans. An 83 made it the 17th best-rated PS4 game of the generation, not to mention its rivals Xbox and Switch. The non-unusual complaint I heard was that it was too repetitive, and its global open too shallow, and yet it just wasn’t my pleasure at all (I gave it a 9.5), and I can easily see how you can simply Tsushima as one of the most productive games of the generation on all platforms. I can’t say it’s actually number 1 (I think God of War takes that position for me), but yes, it’s up there.

What does Tsushima so enjoyed mean for Sucker Punch? Well, Ghost of Tsushima 2 is almost a guarantee, but I wouldn’t be surprised to leave this island because of a new location in the area. Jin turns out to have the ability to continue his story, I think there’s some other character in the game that also deserves his time to shine.

Anyway, it’s a big challenge for PlayStation to finish the PS4 generation with a hit like Tsushima. I would expect some kind of “enhanced” edition of the game for PS5, and I can only believe how it will look with even better images, symbol frequency patches and load time on the most productive hardware. I hope to hear it soon.
