There have been some mistakes in the schedule for the 2023 games.
Every year in the video game sector, some titles fall into the category of success, such as Baldur’s Gate 3, which has a very good Metacritic score of 96 on PC and PS5.
There were also surprisingly solid titles like The Lamplighters League and The Tower at the End of the World. Those games and other titles in that class deserve an article.
In this post, I list a list of games that were released with at least moderate fanfare but failed in terms of critical reviews.
IGN published a video of their worst-reviewed games of the year which identified 22 titles that failed to garner a score of 5 out of 10 or higher.
While IGN is arguably the most established gaming-centric publication; reviews are still based on one person’s opinion.
I looked at the score that IGN’s reviewer gave a game on their questionable list and compared it to the Metacritic score (an aggregate number from a collection of critical reviews) and combined it into my own experience, if any, to come up with a more complete vision. of the critical response in both one and both games.
These are the games that IGN gave a score of four out of 10 with the Metacritic score and some settled on reviews.
This access to Daedalic Studios’ LOTR has been universally criticized by almost everyone who has reviewed it publicly. The Metacritic score of 34 proves it. It’s kind of surprising how entertaining someone’s idea of this concept would be. The total game seems to have been a small step towards a much bigger LOTR name that allowed you to use more characters from the franchise. As it stands, LOTR: Gollum might be one of the worst movie/game-book cars ever released.
User ratings should be taken with caution. Only a few other people who create a user account on an online page take the game review procedure seriously. There is no duty or desire to justify the score they assign. So things can go from one excessive to the other.
That said, the user’s score of 4. 6 is in line with the score from IGN and Retro Rebound, the popular YouTube channel. Retro Rebound did not rate the game but called it “offensively bad”.
When it comes to sports titles like EA FC released on Switch along with PS5, Xbox
It will almost be lower. Harsher reviews may prove too harsh due to direct comparisons to versions available on more rugged hardware.
For me, EA Sports FC, NBA 2K, and other sports titles available on Switch are strictly meant for on-the-go play for a snappier experience. Looking for more than that in those titles exposes you to a disappointing experience and perhaps unfair scenario for the developers running the Switch edition of the game.
Gaming Bolt was in step with IGN on Stray Souls as they wrote: “Despite some impressive visuals via Unreal Engine 5, Stray Souls feels utterly uninspired with awful story-telling and laughable horror.”
This is the last summary you see when you read a survival horror game.
Worth A Buy destroyed this game. The reviewer called it “an absolute mess of a game,” which aligns with the IGN review.
YouTube’s complaint and the perspectives on this expansion of the Fortnite universe weren’t as harsh as IGN’s complaint. That said, it’s hard to find a structured review of the Fortnite Festival, which may mean that most see it as more of an expansion that doesn’t deserve a full overhaul.
Similar to the sports video game concept I mentioned above, the Switch edition of MK1 is in a similar, if not worse, situation. MK1 looks so smart on PS5 and Xbox Series S/X that betting on the game with fewer visuals is almost criminal. I’m not sure if this edition has been released, as it is insufficient for the entire brand. Nintendo Life’s review is the only other review on IGN, and this publication rated it even more harshly than IGN with a score of 3 out of 10. .
You only have to see this game in action to know that it’s not a name, you probably spend a lot of time playing. The images are bland and the “action” is the opposite of an addiction. This game is a slap in the face for King Kong.
Personally, it’s probably the most disappointing game on this list. I had high hopes after the first release, but Flashback 2 looks more like the editing room of the original than a sequel that builds on the good fortune of its predecessor and adds new wrinkles. I know how hard it is to expand a video game, but running this name produces a result that will make critics use the L-word (lazy).
Metacritic doesn’t have full ratings for The Day Before, however, all we see in the Early Access notes is IGN’s account.
PC Games wrote: “The Day Before sets new negative standards – the gaming disaster of the year!”
This is a harsh criticism. I haven’t played The Day Before, but with such harsh reviews, I almost need to take a look at it to see if it’s as bad as so many other people have claimed.
Unfortunately, the game’s servers will shut down on January 22, 2024, just over a month after its release, so those of us who haven’t played the game will possibly never know how bad it is.
