Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: Five features I expect apple for iPhone 12

CNET is also available in Spanish.

Don’t show that anymore

On the left, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and on the right, the Note 20 Ultra.

There are five specific features that I think Apple deserves to consider adoption. That said, we know that Samsung loves to incorporate as many new features as you can imagine on their phones. Apple introduces new features to solve a challenge or improve your iPhone experience. This difference is significant, and I doubt that Apple will load any of those features just to load them.

In February, Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, with a 13x optical zoom and 100x area zoom (also known as virtual zoom). The new Galaxy Note 20 Ultra features a 5x optical zoom with a 50x virtual zoom. The iPhone 11 Pro features a 2x optical zoom. I’m not saying that the iPhone 12 wants Space Zoom, no phone wants it. But it would be welcome to have a 3x or 4x optical zoom on the next iPhone.

This is the gigantic lump on the back of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

Currently, Apple will offer the global camera formula for photos and videos on any phone. However, many high-end Android phones offer a wider zoom range.

But who knows if Apple would rely only on hardware to give the iPhone 12 a wider zoom range? You can follow Google’s steps and take effect a software zoom that uses device learning to get results, such as google Pixel 4.

Every time a new iPhone comes out, our team of drip power experts test the new devices to see how durable they are. The iPhone 11 Pro has proven to be one of the most durable iPhones CNET has ever tested.

But those fall tests were conducted prior to the release of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and its Gorilla Glass Victus body. The new Gorilla Glass is twice as scratch-resistant as the Gorilla Glass 6 and can face falls of up to 2 meters in front of 1.6 meters. In theory, this means that a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra can fall when you hold it in your ear during a call.

For years, Apple worked with Corning, the maker of Gorilla Glass, on an edition of Gorilla Glass for iPhone. And I hope we’ll see an edition of Gorilla Glass Victus for the iPhone 12.

Obviously, the most important feature of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is the stylus, also called S-Pen. The last S-Pen when used on the Note 20 Ultra has a latency of nine milliseconds. This is fast the moment you touch the screen with the S-Pen until the screen/phone reacts. In fact, it has the same latency as the Apple Pencil on iPad Pro.

The iPad Pro is compatible with Apple Pencil and it would be great to have it on the iPhone 12, especially on a larger screen version.

But one dream that many of us hope is to be able to use the Apple Pencil on an iPhone, especially in the larger edition of Max. My hands are crossed, waiting for the Apple Pencil to come with the iPhone 12. I mean, iOS 14 brought the symbol video to the iPad symbol on iPhone. So let’s keep this trend going.

And who knows, Apple would make an Apple Pencil Mini the length of a golf pen?

I think Samsung has the technique to maximize the screen surface and make room for the front camera. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra features a perforated screen that is and useful.

The iPhone 12 wants to find a way to rearrange the iPhone notch, which looks wonderful through existing standards. Clearly, Apple has more to consider the front camera. FaceID has several parts that are also in front. So, although I’d like to see a perforated screen on the iPhone 12, I don’t think it’s possible.

Since iPhone X, the notch on FaceID iPhones hasn’t changed. I hope it’s smaller on iPhone 12.

However, if Apple discovered a path to notch on the iPhone 12, it would be a significant aesthetic enhancement.

The Note 20 Ultra demonstration also has a higher refresh rate. Unlike the 60-fold cooling display consistent with the second, the Note 20 Ultra can update its display 120 times consistent with the second. Similarly, the iPad Pro has a Pro Motion display with 120 Hz. It’s time to see that screen on your iPhone. Even though it was 90 Hz, the iPhone 12 has a maximum refresh rate. The Apple Arcade games would be amazing. Animations on iOS would look fluid-compatible. And if the iPhone 12 is compatible with Apple Pencil, this maximum refresh rate would be essential.
