The lawyer for Anthony Borges, 21, who was shot five times in the attack, proposed this stipulation.
“I think if scientists studied his brain, maybe they could figure out what created this monster,” Borges’ lawyer, Alex Arreaza, told Fox News Digital. “Maybe there’s some kind of imbalance that caused this that we can avoid in the future. “”.

Berkeley-based attorney Scott Herndon, who has represented victims of mass shootings, is the novel of the settlement.
“I’ve never heard of anything like this before. It’s pretty unique,” he told Fox News Digital. “It underlines the feeling of those who remain that everything will have to be done to avoid such massacres in the long term. “
The new agreement also gives Borges the right to use Cruz’s call in films, books and media.
The 25-year-old killer, who is serving a life sentence, will not be able to profit from his crime and will have to obtain Borges’ permission before giving any interviews.

“We didn’t need it to be to continue torturing families,” Arreaza said, referring to O. J. ‘s e-book. Simpson’s “If I Did It” as a warning.
Herndon noted that it is unusual for an abuser to give up his rights to your call as part of a settlement.
The deal was made in a Zoom meeting between Borges’ father, Rory Borges, Cruz and Arreaza. Anthony Borges, who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, does not feel comfortable participating in the discussions, Arreaza said.
“You can see how psychotic he is,” Arreaza noted. “He looked at Rory when we finished and asked if she could apologize, and Nikolas apologized to him as if they had been in a twist of automotive fate together. It was very bloodless and strange. “
Borges, then 15 years old, was one of 17 victims who narrowly survived the ruthless assault. He blocked a door with his frame to prevent Cruz from entering the classroom where he was hiding with other terrified students.

The settlement also awards Anthony Borges $430,000 that Cruz gets from one of his parents’ life insurance policy.
In an earlier settlement, the Broward County Public School District paid $26 million to the shooting victims, of which $1. 25 million went to Borges. An undisclosed settlement with the FBI for failing to save Cruz has also been attributed to Borges.

He and other patients have lawsuits pending against School Resource Officer Scot Peterson and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
The gunshots continue to surround the young man, who feels satisfied that the bloodbath has been demolished. “Every time he passed by he brought back memories,” Arreaza said.
