In short, to get more housing parcels in FFXIV, developers want to expand their knowledge servers, but the procedure for installing more servers will be slow due to COVID-19. “Considering the demanding situations of getting better knowledge centers,” director Naoki Yoshida says in the announcement, “the progression team is doing what it can to maximize servers to allow as many housing parcels to be added as can be imagined over time in Update 5.4. We will make a follow-up announcement once we have completed the schedule of those additions and decided how many can be added.”
FFXIV’s housing shortage has worsened due to the ongoing suspension of housing demolition. Players have to log in regularly at their home every 30 days, in a different way, this space will be destroyed automatically. But because players may not be able to maintain their subscriptions with the economic effects of COVID, developers suspended this formula before this year, and now the owners are piling up.
Of course, none of this solves the community’s long-standing disruptions with the existing housing formula, and the fact that it is limited at all. After many delays in Patch 5.3, Patch 5.4 is expected to return to the MMORPG at the same previous release rate, with a main update once every 3 months.
