ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Trey Faltine connected on three hits and drove in four runs to propel fifth-seeded Texas into the Big 12 Tournament championship game with a 9-2 victory over fourth seed Oklahoma State on Saturday.
The Cowboys (39-20) forced the game by beating the Longhorns 8-1 the day before. Texas (42-18), which beat OSU 4-1 to open the tournament, qualified for Sunday’s game against Oklahoma, the third seed. .
Faltine’s bachelor scored a run as Texas picked up a pair of dirty runs at the set time to take a 2-1 lead. He added a bases-loaded double to lead on 3 issues in a third set of issues. Douglas Hodo III followed Faltime. double with an RBI double and Dylan Campbell added a three-pointer.
Five Texas pitchers combined to connect on five hits and pitcher Jared Southard (3-1) picked up the win. Southard allowed one hit but scored four of the seven goals on balls.
Caeden Trenkle connected on two of Oklahoma State’s hits and Nolan McLean connected on a solo run to close the scoring in the bottom of the fifth.
