GALLATIN, TN (WSMV) – Social media giant Facebook is about to invest $800 million to build a knowledge center in Gallatin.
Construction is reportedly already underway at Gallatin Industrial Park on Roundtree Drive and Bright Lane.
“Our network took the resolution three years ago to look for generation jobs as a component of our strategy of economic progress,” Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown said. “We welcome Facebook to Gallatin.”
The knowledge center is expected to occupy more than 980,000 square feet. More than 1,100 structure employees will be on site during the period of greatest structure.
The work will continue until 2023 until the assignment is complete. The facility will create a hundred jobs in Gallatin and the Nashville metro area.
Gov. Bill Lee also hosted the corporate generation in Tennessee.
Officials say Facebook chose Gallatin because of its infrastructure and renewable energy.
The facility would be 100 percent supported by renewable energy.
Officials say Facebook also has a contract in Madison and Lincoln counties for renewable energy projects for Gallatin operations.
This will be the seventeenth Facebook knowledge center in the world.
