Facebook allows companies to qualify cash for live online events, which, he says, will help businesses stay afloat while the pandemic helps keep consumers away from storefronts.
With the new addition to the platform, page owners can organize an occasion on Facebook and rate visitors at a participation fee.
“With social estrangement mandates still in place, many corporations and creators are putting their opportunities online to connect with existing consumers and succeed in new ones,” said Fiji Simo, Facebook’s app director. “People also rely more on live videos and interactive reports when they can’t meet physically.”
Profiles will need to use Facebook Live to host paid live streams, but the company also tests paid opportunities in Messenger to help personalize meetings. The new feature will be available in 20 countries. Users must abide by Facebook’s spouse monetization policies.
For smaller businesses and creators, Facebook waives the same fees above for online occasions, but other fees may be charged with the use of other features of the occasion, such as marketing.
The company also reduced the App Store tax by 30% for certain profiles.
“We asked Apple to reduce its taxes by 30% on the App Store or to allow us to offer Facebook Pay to absorb all prices for COVID-19 problem corporations. Unfortunately, they have rejected our applications and SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises] will only get 70% of their hard earned revenue,” Simo said in facebook’s statement.
According to Facebook, live streams in the app continue to attract larger crowds. In June, live streams on Facebook pages doubled, and creators flocked to live streams to compensate for cancelled face-to-face events.
