GALLATIN, Tennessee (WTVF) – Facebook is building an $800 million knowledge center in Gallatin that will create a hundred well-paid jobs in the region.
Tennessee economics officials said the 982,000-square-foot facility would offer a variety of jobs and job types, adding technical operations, electricians, logistics and security workers’ corps.
The construction of the new structure is already underway. Some 1,100 staff members of the structure will be at the top of the project.
“Our network took the resolution 3 years ago to look for generation jobs as a component of our economic progress strategy. We are pleased to welcome Facebook to Gallatin, and we are pleased with the positive effect they will have on our city.” Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown said.
Facebook says the center of knowledge will be among the most complex and energy-efficient amenities in the world. According to a press release, it will be supported through 100 percent renewable energy, will use 80% less water than the average, and when completed, will qualify as LEED Gold.
Facebook has partnered with TVA to bring 220 MW of new solar force to the Tennessee Valley to the company’s operations in the region.
