Ex Blizzard and Riot Mock MOBA ‘Whimsical and Pop-Apocalyptic Fantasy’

Theorycraft Games, a studio made up of many developers who worked in the past on games like League of Legends, Valorant, Destiny, and Overwatch, has abandoned the first concept art of its new MOBA-inspired competitive team-based game called Loki.

The 4 works of art represent a global that already looks like a descending MOBA map, with lanes running through each area. last fight of a match. It all sits on a piece of land floating in the sky, where it turns out the game is unfolding, and has other magical-looking sources nearby.

In the room, the scene is dark with a neon sign shining in the middle. You can slightly distinguish a character sitting in front of a window under the harsh shadows. Like League of Legends, Loki will likely take a stand in a genre-changing world. with, I guess, a giant list of characters to suit that. All this, fitting into the “whimsical and pop-apocalyptic global fantasy”, which the developer describes as.

Very little is known about Loki, which is for other people who love MOBAs, “going on adventures with friends and competitive PvP as a team,” according to the developer’s online page (opens in a new tab). The game has only been in progress for a year, but Theorycraft Games has already asked many players to review it and provide feedback over the next year.

It’s easy to guess what kind of game it will be given that the company is full of developers who play and have worked on competitive multiplayer games, basically within Blizzard and Riot. As part of today’s announcement, Theorycraft Games also revealed that it has recruited Andrew Yip, former director of the game Legends of Runeterra, and Kévin Le Moigne, artistic director of Arcane (opens in a new tab) (the Netflix LoL series).

“Together, we blended our professional strengths and private loves for other genres to forge something completely new with Loki. Andrew’s wisdom on in-depth game systems and Kevin’s ability to bring fantasy worlds to life will drive our project to make Loki an enriching experience. and the imaginative experience we’ve been since its inception,” CEO Joe Tung said of the new hires.
